[email protected]
I just put new video card on new computer. Everything is better than old computer
except one big problem: has no support S-video. This means I can't watch video
on secondary display. I usually watched online video/DVD movie using second display through S-video back of Sony Analog TV. I am in...

Do smaller/more DIMM modules run cooler? by
John Doe[_9_]
I was told that a long time ago. I accepted it because it makes perfect
sense. Using twice the number of smaller modules means less load on each
module, therefore a cooler module. Overall, the electricity used might
increase because each module is being powered, but usage is what heats
things up....

Tick-Tock looks more like Flip-Flop. by
Skybuck Flying[_4_]
Heeeelllllooooooooooo,
Intel's Tick-Tock "strategy" is starting to look more and more like a
"Flip-Flop" strategy, (in case you didn't get the joke: producing mostly
"flops" / failures LOL.)
All kinds of problems are popping up with their processors.
Bad thermal interface material, to thin...

Broken USB Port by
Davej
It seems that the most common way for a USB port to be broken is to have that center divider break. Has anyone had any luck gluing the divider back in? Thanks.

DVD drive auto-retracts! by
Nil
I've never encountered this one before... a couple of days ago I
replaced an ailing CD/DVD burner in my Windows 7 computer. Now, if I
leave the drive tray open, it will automatically retract in exactly 3
minutes 15 seconds! I don't want it to do that, but I can see no
setting to control that...

Can you boot from a USB CD-ROM reader? I don't think so by
RayLopez99
Using a modern OS and BIOS (say three years old), do you think it's possible to boot from a CD/DVD reader that's USB? My built-in SATA DVD/CD reader is erratic (loose connection that I've not eliminated, comes and goes, and/or the system is on the brink, and it's the second one I've bought here in...

The last few days something strange has been happening. It started after I
