Audio through video card by Yousuf Khan
A small startup firm, Bionic FX, has come up with the idea of processing audio streams through the graphics card's GPU. It calls its product AVEX (Audio Video EXchange). http://tinyurl.com/58or4 Yousuf Khan

Still waiting for a motherboard 2 or more full bit PCI-express slots by boe
All that excitement over PCI-express and yet the motherboards that came out with the first round are pretty blah. Alienware is patent-pending on their motherboard with more than one full PCI-express slot to support SLI video array - potentially doubling the video processing power by using 2 cards...

Itanium finally passes Alpha at HP by Yousuf Khan
Itanium sales have finally surpassed Alpha sales at HP. Looks like it's mostly in the OpenVMS market though. Most OpenVMS customers are entrenching around Itanium now. The Alpha-Tru64 market still seems to be volatile. http://www.techweb.com/wire/story/TWB20040820S0005 Yousuf Khan

help me get started with Embedded devices using Am29C020 chip on an SBC by heirbrande
Hi, I would like some places to start to get the easiest program programmed into an AM29C020 EEprom to boot a single board computer. I imagine seeing DOS or Linux booting up to say "Hello, World". First I just want to see this thing boot to something else instead of the WinCE that it boots to.

Pentium 4 dual-core details emerge by Yousuf Khan
Looks like Intel's dual-core P4 processors will be codenamed Paxville and Dempsey. Yousuf Khan ----- http://www.geek.com/news/geeknews/2004Aug/bch20040817026514.htm quote Again, AMD is setting the bar for future processor technology, but this time

SDRAM problem with intel 815EEA motherboard by Marc-Olivier Murray
Hi everyone! I got a problem installing my new stick of 256 MB SDRAM 133 mHz. When I boot, the BIOS loads and after the logo and BIOS messages, the computer frooze and the floppy drive light still open. When I remove my new stick of RAM, everything work perfectly. Is it possible that 256 mb of...

pxa255 & PCI by Sergei Vlasov
Hello, Anybody had a chance to implement PCI bus on pxa255-based machine? Is there any ready made bridge chip (say, from Intel, or not) so that I won't need to deal with FPGA programming...? TIA Sergei

Is Itanium the first 64-bit casualty? by Yousuf Khan
Interesting reading here, and very common-sense. Itanium may be the next casualty in the 64-bit wars, when Itanium was the one that caused the 64-bit wars to start in the first place. http://www.infoworld.com/article/04/06/25/26enterwin_1.html Yousuf Khan -- Humans: contact me at ykhan at rogers...

Interesting read about upcoming K9 processors by Yousuf Khan
http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20040726PR202.html This interview with Tyan president Symon Chang provided the following quotes: "Around 2006, when the market moves to AMD's next generation of chips, you will be able to go over 8-way. What I mean is that with eight sockets, and dual cores, you...

P4 Extreme Edition discontinued by Yousuf Khan
This article states that the original P4EE is being discontinued. It doesn't mention whether all further EE's will be discontinued or not, but it seems to be the implication. I wonder if that means AMD will also discontinue its FX line of Athlon...

Intel Shelton processor by Yousuf Khan
http://arstechnica.com/news/posts/20040811-4091.html http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=17790 Apparently it's based on a Celeron 90nm running at 1Ghz with no cache (presumably no L2 cache rather than L1). I assume that this means that it's a P4-based Celeron rather than some P-M-based Celeron....

ANSI C problem on P4 under Linux & Windows by VNG
I have an ANSI C program that was compiled under Windows MSVC++ 6.0 (SP6) and under Linux gnu, and ran under P3, P4 and AMD. It runs fine on P3 and AMD under both Windows and Linux, but under P4 it has problems. Under Windows 3GHz P4 runs twice slower than 800MHz P3... and under Linux not only...
