Intel P6 decode/microcode question by
Steven Bosscher
Hi,
Is there any information on the number of cycles a "complex"
instruction blocks the instruction decoder? I am trying to
build a DFA scheduler description for the Intel P6 arch for
GCC, but I just can't find any information on the decoding
of complex instructions.
In fact I can't even find...

D875 ...registered memory? by
Ohger1
I have a question about the Intel D875PBZLK motherboard. According to Intel,
this board supports ECC DDR memory. It seems that all the ECC memory is also
"registered" memory. Will registered ECC PC3200 DDR memory work in this
motherboard? Thanks.

AGP 3.0 support by
Eric Gisin
Of course this is bull****. Intel's 9XX chipsets will take over a year to take
become popular. Almost no one want's a PCI-E system without PCI or AGP.
PCI-E may even be a flop, and people will demand the superior PCI-X. It's a
lot easier to move AGP chips to PCI-X than it is PCI-E.

D875PBZ speaker = no sound? by
Followup
Hi,
Could not find a speaker connector on the motherboard and the onboard
speaker according to the online manual only makes sounds if the
motherboard is not functioning correctly.
Is this true that the onboard speaker cannot be used to generate
beeps?
Never thought about this when ordering this...

PXA255 video compression performance by
GrahamH
Any thoughts on using an xscale processor to do video compression (MJPEG,
MPEG2, MPEG4)?
I'm particularly interested in ball-park estimates of cycles per pixel (or
ms per X by Y frame). Probably using the IPP library.
Any info gratefully received.

Hi:
Shopping for board, and settled on intel PBZLK platform with 875 chipset.-
not sure how much ram to get. Will be running XP Pro. Lot of benchmarks

Hyperthreading and XP Home by

I built a system with a P4/800 with Hyperthreading technology and was
disappointed that according to SiSoftware's Sandra utility, Windows XP Home
was not fully utilizing Hyperthreading. The analysis software said that I
might as well disable HT in the bios because the OS was holding it back. ...

Matthew Speed
I have a system that is dual PIII capable. It currently has a 500 Mhz
KC0 stepping CPU in it. Will the PIII tolerate having mixed steppings
in a dual system or do I need to go find matched CPU's to make this
work?
