Oracle gives in on multi-core processors by

Big discounts if you're using AMD or Intel dual-cores, but the biggest
discount if you're using UltraSparc T1.

Intel Yonah is auto-overclocking
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=28431
Here's a description:
Lets take the auto-overclocking in Yonah for example. If you buy a CPU at 2.16GHz, you expect it to act like the rest of the 2.16GHz CPUs. If that CPU can ramp up to 2.33 when circumstances permit...

Removing Mini PCI video from chipset by
cryotiger
I've got an IBM eServer xseries 225 8649 type running XP Pro with SP2.
This system comes with a 7505 Intel Chipset with an on-board video
mini-pci ATI Rage XL PCI card. I would like to upgrade it to a Nvidia
G-Force 6200 graphics card that I have fitted into the AGP Pro slot on
the board but I only...

board plug-in/add-on question (not quite sure how to describe it) by
The little lost angel
Just a random question that came to my mind reading about the FB-DIMM
thing.
With the added chip, it allows subsequent ram tech to use the same
interface and suppose to allow greater number of DIMM modules to be
used.
Some time ago, I remember reading here that having pieces of plug-in
ram is...

"Dell's halo is fading" by

Quoted from PCWorld's latest Reliability & Service survey:
http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,123409,pg,1,00.asp. I hadn't
realized how far things had gone he e.g. on its low-end systems, they
have a 90-day warranty and for ~$25. you can get it extended to 1-year....

Processor Speed by
Charles Turner
Hi,
Sorry if this is a bit of a basic question but my understanding is that the
smaller you can make the devices the faster potentially they can perform.
However there is a limit. Considering the speed of processors in PC's has
increased from 100MHz or so to 3GHz, what is the fastest speed that...

Intel 945GNT PCI and IRQs by
Ultra5
Does anybody know how to change the IRQ's associated with the different PCI
slots on the Intel 945GNT motherboards?
We have used Intel motherboards in the past (the last ones were 915 chipset
based) with the iRMX OS and some PCI cards (network, Digi CX concentrator
cards and our own custom board)...

Something strange observed with one of my old boxes after WinXP
reinstalled (clean install - partition deleted and recreated).
Harddisk activities (files copied from drive to drive, or over the
network) causes CPU load up to 100% sustained for the duration of
activity(as per task mgr). Most of the...

FIC KA-6100 stability - Memory and USB by

Hi...
Maybe someone has experience with this board...
I inherited this motherboard (FIC KA-6100) from a friend and
I want to make it work. It used to work before it started gathering
dust
when the HDD went...
Anyway, from what I can determine, the CPU is a 233 MHZ Pentium II

Looks like a winner in thin-n-light and possibly other cases when low
power usage warrants some (noticeable but not much) compromise in
performance.

Comparison between Intel dual cores and XEON processors by
Richard Cook
Has anyone seen any benchmark comparisons out there which compare the
Intel dual core processors against the same clock speed XEON x 2?
It's like there's a conspiracy by Intel to not allow the two to be
compared. I suspect that the Pentium D 820 (2.8GHz) would be quite close
to the XEON parts. Or...
