USB flash drive vs USB hard disk by
Mr. Man-wai Chang
How could a device tell their differences? By looking for a partition table?
I have a Panasonic TV that can record programs on USB hard disks only. I
am thinking to deceive it by inserting a USB flash drive....

Why you use Eternal September? (besides being free) by
John Doe
As I recall... The feature I need from Eternal September is the
ability to reconstruct threads. That's important, but I could
survive without it. So, besides being free, why do you need
Eternal September?

Measure out this geometry right-angle for me by
Flasherly[_2_]
I'm building a knife sharpener with a 25-deg angle out of ceramic
hollow rods. Ceramic stock: 4-1/2" long & 3/8" diameter.
Right Angle Triangle: the two sides at 90-deg, one of which will be,
of course, the base.
Figure roughly around a 10" plug-in value for an extended "sharpening
edge," which...

IE11 by
geoff
The IE11 update breaks gadgets in Win 7, and the Win 7 gadget page says
gadgets are discontinued. The page then talks about Win 8 and how wonderful
it is.
It seems like another Win 8 marketing push with part of the strategy being,
'selectively break things in Win 7'.
MS' reorg has cleaned out...

40" SCEPTRE computer/vga mon - figured it out! by
Flasherly[_2_]
Amazing now how many flat panel TVs don't include a refresh Khz rate
in their spec sheets. Mine does.
All resolutions are 60Hz up to 1920x1020 with the exception of
1024x768, listed for 75Hz!, and below, which are either/or 60 if not
70Hz.
Yep. For encodes, I use, aberrations and artifacts...

Can ATX PSU blow the mainboard? by
Jason[_14_]
Can an overheating ATX PSU blow the mainboard if the PSU fails?
I may be mistaken but ISTR there's a possibility of a voltage surge when
the PSU goes.

Hi, i have a pcmcia card 3Com mod. 3c154g72 that i don't find the

Yamaha Wi Fi problem by

I'm asking here because many of you guys know stuff. Has anybody got a
Yamaha surround-sound amp with their Wi Fi connector? I received mine
today and have got nowhere trying to set Wi Fi up.
The adapter is supposed to have an IP address of 192.168.1.249 but will
not respond to a browser (page...

mobo rear connectors stacked too high by
[email protected]
I received a PC to fix. It has a Nintel DG43NB. Which has onboard graphics,
there is a DVI and VGA socket with about 15 mm between them.
The VGA socket is highest. Now the user has pushed the VGA connector too
hard and now both connectors are bent back and quite loose.
Now I wonder if this is a...

Google is squelching speech on YouTube too by

Hopefully I'm wrong, but apparently Google has begun curtailing
speech on YouTube by preventing users from commenting to each other
about videos. Looks like the only comments Google is going to allow
will be comments to the video.

40" - 25lb. computer monitor by
Flasherly[_2_]
Found a 40" for $250. Has a PC/VGA hookup, so I don't have to if I
don't want to dick with HDMI. For now. PC setup, anyway, is 0/1 or
either WIDE or dot-to-dot. Kinda wild, that DtD. I set it up and
used the Intel MB video chipset driver to get it up to 1920x1080.
(Fresh install XP/SP3...
