Are Computer Fairs all crap? by
Alec
For the first time in 10 years I've gone to a computer fair at a local
hotel. Had to pay £2.50 just to get in. I was pretty underwhelmed by what I
saw.
Stalls selling copied software (illegal surely?), secondhand parts wrenched
from old PCs and Macs, under-spec PCs with flashing coloured lights...

New Mac for £15!! by
Alec
Well, Yahoo Japan put out on their online shop a new Mac desktop (worth
£600) for £15. 20,000 people put in orders for 100 million units, before the
error was spotted and the item removed. Yahoo blame their sales agent for
the mistake and as 'no contract of sale has been established', they...

Anyone know where I can buy an LCD screen with no dead pixels? by
Alex Vallat
Hello,
I want to buy a UXGA TFT monitor (I've got my eye on the Dell 2001FP, or
LG L2010P, which both use the same panel), but I have a rather different
idea of how many dead pixels are 'acceptable' than most online vendors
seem to. Does anyone here know of any online vendors which will...

USB Hard Drive by
AMO
I'm looking for a USB Hard Drive, preferably one that's around 150GB or so.
Basically, the best £/Mb ratio but not too much past the £100 mark.
The best value one I know of is the:

USB2 Hard Drive Caddy by
AMO
I am thinking of buying the following hard drive:
http://uk.aldi.com/
Go to Internal Hard Drive Drive to get a Western Digital 250Mb hard drive
for £79.99. This seems to be a good deal.
I am looking for a case to support this drive. I don't actually know the
exact term for this. Is it a caddy?...

Determining order of drives by
AMO
Usually when I format a hard drive and partition it, all the logical
partitions are in sequence, i.e C, D, E, F before the CD drives etc kick in
on the end.
However, with a new PC I have built, they kick in after C drive with my
remaining logical drives starting F (I have two drives).
The only...

USB Hard Drive by
AMO
I'm looking to buy a USB2 Hard Drive for backup purposes.
I am currently looking at the Lacie Porsche 80GB or 160GB drive from EBuyer
(around £55/£75 + P&P).
1) What's the optimum size I should be purchasing for best price/storage
size ratio? I think around 160Gb seems like a good choice.

New Hard Drive for Evesham Laptop by
AMO
I bought a laptop from Evesham a while ago. Its a Voyager Pro 64 A3200+.
The laptop is no longer under warranty. However, I think that the hard
drive is dying. When it accesses certain parts of the disk it seems to take
forever and sometimes crashes my machine. The machine was only...
