which mobo: NF7, A7N8X-X or A7V600? by
shaggyone
My trusty K7S5A finally croaked after 3 years and I am left deciding
which el cheapo mobo will last me for at least another 2 years. Accdg.
to reviews the Nforce2 400 chipset will kick the KT600' arse. However,
RAID, SATA, built in Wifi, and gigabit lan on the A7V600 seems too
good to pass up. I...

which ps for XP2100+ by
sdlomi
Can I buy an adequate power supply for the XP2100+ for $30.00? There
will be a dvd, cdrw, 30-gig h/d, ECSk7S5A mobo, 512 meg ddr ram, 2 desktop
speakers(no subwoofer), 16meg video(ugh!), and NO overclocking.
What brands, if any, might work? Thanks in advance, sdlomi

Which PSU? by

Antec Truepower 2.0 550Watt.

This PSU features two 12V rails, each offering...

Which RAM? - Down to Two. by
Wooducoodu
Of these two options which would you say is the better choice for an
Albatron 865PE Pro board and a 2.4C or 2.6C P4? Anyone actually using this
combination? They're about the same price so that's not a deciding factor.

Which setting is better on paper. by
[email protected]
I just bought some PC3200 to run on my Gigabyte 8IE533 motherboard,
845E Chipset with a
Intel 2ghz Northwood.
I have two memory choices of 1:1 and 3:4. The board does not support
PC3200 as
the highest cas# latency setting is 2.5, the bios doesn't include the
correct SPD settings for DDR400...

Has anyone got a sure way of monitoring the CPU temperature accurately.
When idle in BIOS my CPU displays as 45C but `Core Temp` shows it as 50C and

How do I know which is right and are the temp sensors on...

Whoops...CPU temp is -58C and 198C ??! by
[email protected]
Hi guys
Get ready to laugh at my stupidity.
I managed to fry my old Athlon 3200XP the other day and since
replacing it my temperature readouts are always -58C in SmartFan and
198C in the BIOS. And conviniently, as 256 - 58 = 198 I'm thinking I've
clearly ****** the thermometer too somehow.

Why Does Kingston Do This? by
Agent_C
I just bought a stick of their Hyper-X (KHX6400D2LL/1G) super dooper
memory. It's advertised as: "1GB 800MHz DDR2 Non-ECC Low-Latency CL4
(4-4-4-12) DIMM".
However, when you read the data sheet, it says: "This module has been
tested to run at DDR2 800MHz at low latency timing of 4-4-4-12

Why does no iteration of Windows load balance? by

I've gone to Windows 7 build 7000 on my E8400@ 3.6Ghz Raptor RAID0 system
and I'm very impresssed (this is what Vista should have been, but that's
another rant) it doesn't seem to load balance programs any better than
previous iterations of Windows. In this respect it's not materially improved...

Why so very small amount of thermal compound? by

I have read posts that suggest minimal thermal compound. The Arctic Silver
instructions also suggest a very small amount.

I understand this advice if the concern is that too much compound may
contaminate the pins and cause electrical...
