Newegg doubles price! by
Wes Newell
I'm a little ****ed about this. Newegg has raiseed the price of the
TR2-M1 cooler from $8.99 to $15.99. The only reason I can see for this is
the popularity and the five star ratings in 40 reviews. This cooler can
still be bought for $8-$12 elsewhere. The TR2-M2 is now $3 cheaper than
the M1, but...

water cooling v. fan\heatsink by
taragem
I've been thinking about getting water cooling for my AMD 4200 X2, but
have been reading reviews that say they're only getting around 3 to 6
degrees lower than with fan\heatsink. My case has 5 80mm fans and one
smaller one (50mm, I think), not counting PS/CPU fans. I live in OR
where it does get...

Benchmarking by
Robert
I read a few days ago here about a guy overclocking his cpu according to the
"expert advice" from clowns like "misfit" that roam here. And he apparently
blew it. Since this guy was using a celeron, he obviously doesn't have a lot
a money to waste like the rest of us, or it was a "hand me down". And...

Removing Arctic Silver 5 by
Peter Geddes
What is the best stuff to use to remove AS5 from a CPU core and heatsink?
I'm in the UK. Also, what cloths or similar would I need to use?
I followed the instructions on the AS website to set my PC up but the
temperatures are always higher than the 'putting a grain sized dollop and
then using a...

2-3-2-6 vs. 2-2-2-6 ? by
Thomas Andersson
Hi!
I've tried to get and answer or find information about this, but without
success so far.
It's quite simple, I'm about to chose ram for my A7N8X-Deluxe (w. Barton
2500 to be run at 200Mhz).
I've decided on Kingston Hyper-X, just not what sticks to use yet.
I will get 2*512MB (PC3200, to be run...

Mobile Bartons - FSB Questions by
Tim
I have a mobile Barton 2600+ and have a few questions about overclocking
and the FSB ...
1) If I raise the FSB without raising the default CPU speed, do I still need
to boost any voltages? Could I go from the default 133x15 to 200x10 without
needing to change the voltage settings? I have PC3200...

Worth getting Barton 2500 now that Athlon64 is here? by
Steve Wolfe
I run XP. About 7 or 8 months ago I was going to upgrade my ailing
700MHz Duron for a Barton 2500.
But has the attractiveness of the Barton 2500 approach disappeared
on account of Athlon 64 now being more popular these days?
I don't know much about Athlon 64 expect I have heard...

XP32200 barton FSB by
Dave
I have recently bought an XP 3200 Barton 400Mhz processor. I also have 400
Mhz DDR Memory. However windows shows that my cpu has an external clock
speed of 200Mhz. As a relatively newbie can any one explain to me in simple
terms is this correct or do I have to adjust my BIOS.
TIA Dave

Last review before ordering by
Davek
Originally I was going to build with a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP
with a Intel P4 2.4 MB/processor but I'm hoping to buy the
Asus A7n8X and 2500+ Barton for 1/3 the price of the
Intel/Gigabyte combo and then overclock (I've never tried
overclocking before though). I'm not anti-Intel, I just
want to save...

Opteron or FX5x by
[email protected]
Im after a socket 940 Chip and am unsure which chip to purchase. I could get
a FX5x chip or the Opteron. What is the difference between them? I know the
FX is aimed at games but surely there cant be that much difference as I can
get a opteron chip quite cheap. How do the opteron chips perfom...

question about memtest86 by
ZigZag Master
What options should be changed under (c)onfiguration for a really thorough
testing of the modules - I am trying to determine if a module is
defective...
Also, I changed a setting under "Memory Sizing" from BIOS-STD to BIOS-ALL
and I immediatly got a ton of errors. Is this normal?

XP2700 and NF7-S overclocking by
BiPolar
I've got standard cooling (but i might upgrade that later). How much
can i overclock this? Would it be better to try and sell my 2700 and
get a barton2500?
I don't really want to do that, but I also want to get the most bang
from my buck.

Locked 2500+ - what can we do with them?? by
Pete
Not too happy a bunny ! I have just had delivered what I thought to be a
nice speedy 2500+ and a GigaByte GA7-NNXP only to find that AMD have moved
the target and locked up the 2500.
My chip is the retail version AQZEA 0341 RPM and I gather this is now
locked??
If this is true (and I can't check...
