The 68000 is better than AMD crap by
Carl Dau
I think the AMIGA is still much better with its superior 68000 CPU ,
better than all the modern PC crap which only crashes and attracts
thousands of dangerous virus programs.

Annoying Antistatic foam on CPU pins by
¢£¥Pƒáó@öòûg£.org
Don't know if I'm totally off base here, but I was just installing a
new processor, and I noticed the pin array on the back of the cpu was
contaminated with bits of the black anti static foam they ship the
processors in. A rather remarkable amount too. This was an OEM AMD64.
I'd hope the stuff was...

AMD 1800+ underclocks itself by
Mark Roberts
I know the AMD Athlon XP 1800+ is supposed to run at 1533MHz, but the
one I got only wants to run at 1150.
My MSI motherboard (K7T Turbo) is supposed to be compatible with this
CPU (and I do have the latest BIOS). The CPU itself is marked
AX1800DMT3C and doesn't look to have been altered to my...

VIA kt266a north bridge 's ram controller* can jam unless very well cooled by
Lim PE
Even with silver paste & a ¼" thick h-sink ( of Jetway V266B ) & 8cm fan
cooled, @133.9mhz fsb ( CL 2 / 3 ) with 2 pc150 dimms,* will jam in
intensive usage ( dvd fast fwd, ram stress test ) in 29°C air, yet no
tmperature sensor is built in.
Users in warm climate beware, can use BCM...

XP2600 333fsb or XP3000 400fsb by
Claus Christensen
Hi.
I can buy a XP3000 400fsb for about $150, but a XP2600 333fsb for about $80.
In this case, is it possible to OC the XP2600 to match the XP3000 400mhz
speed and thereby save about $75??? Both CPU are 2.1ghz.
Thank you for your time.

thermal question by
WilcoxSE
Hi folks,
I was curious as to the accuracy of temp readings using either the bios
(SoftMenu on my KT7) or SisoftSandra. When I enter SoftMenu, I usually get a
higher reading than when I use Sandra. It also seems that as I look in
SoftMenu...it tends to increase the longer I stay in there. Whats...

Nforce3-250GB: GeforceFX cards get huge speedups on this chipset ?? by
rms
Well, fairly huge anyway. In a cpu/bus-bound game like Quake3, 30% faster.
http://www.techreport.com/reviews/2004q2/nforce3-geforcefx/index.x?pg=1
I would guess the performance gap between the next-generation nvidia & ati
cards on this same chipset in these types of games (which there should...

Athlon 64 FX 51 mediocre performance on unbuffered memory -- WHY? by
H.W. Stockman
http://www.legitreviews.com/Reviews/reg_hyperx_2.shtml
The Athlon 64 FX 51 with dual channel PC3200 doesn't score remarkably well
on the UNbuffered Sandra memory test -- e.g. compared to a P4 with similar
dual-channel PC3200 DDR.
Why?
Is the Athlon 64 memory interface throttled to a lower total...
