Athlon 64 and double-sided DDR400? by
Jeremy Stanley
I'm planning to build an Athlon 64 3000+ system with 1GB DDR400, but
I've heard that (on paper at least) this processor can't handle two
double-sided DIMMs at DDR400 speed. However, I took a look at the
manual for the MSI K8N NEO FSR motherboard (based on the nForce3 250Gb
chipset), which claims...

AN35N-Ultra and a Athlon 2400+ Tbred by
Yellowbeard
Thank you for your time reading,
I have a ECS K7S5A upgrading to a Shuttle AN35N-Ultra 400.
The Tbred (I think is locked) is running 15X147 on the ECS.
Has anyone reached 166 fsb with a locked 2400?
When I get the Shuttle, in a day or so, I will set conservative to get XP
pro re loaded, then I...

anyone read CPC? by
robin.gordon1
the latest issue came in the other day and I thought that I had a bargain
when I read the 24/7 order advert. a Geforce 6800 for £139 but when I go to
their website it's £199. is this false advertising or I am being a little
silly about this issue.

temp differential by
Bushy
g'day all, just wondering what your opinions are on the following:
a ten degree celcius temperature differential between the diode and the
socket temp under full load. seems a bit odd to me.
i thought perhaps this was a sign that my HSF wasn't sitting very well on my
xp2500 at 2.2ghz. in a few...

which cooler should I use on my XP 2500@3200+? by
Lee
Hello
I have ordered the following cooler from komplett;
http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=119824&cks=PRL
It is my plan to use this to replace an old hsf on a box I use that has a
Pentium 3 1ghz (133fsb) in it.
My other box is a XP 2500+@3200+ 1.8v and this currently has a...

Temperatures, Yet again by
iTsMeMa
OK, I ran an MSI K7T Turbo for a few years and achieved good cooling, good
temps with a variety of processors. Best I could do was with an XP2400
undervolted to 1.5v and cpu temps of 35-37c. Silly me flashed the board with
an illegal bios and killed it. I purchased, as a replacement an Asrock...

CPU upgrade query #2 by
ZeeExSixAre
I have a Soyo SY-KT600 with a 200 Max FSB, socket A with a 2200+ currently.
What's the best proc to upgrade to that would be mildly overclockable? I
heard the 2500 bartons (even the new ones) can be clocked up to 3k speeds.
At $80 a pop, it sounds like a good deal, but is upgrading to a 200MHz...

cpu speed? by
Gregg Strand
I just bought an Athlon XP 2500+ cpu but it's only running at 1.1Ghz instead
of 1.83Ghz like it's supposed to. When I checked System Info/Summary, the
info for processor was: x86 Family 6 Model 10 Stepping 0 AuthenticAMD
~1100Mhz. I have it on a new Chaintech 7NJL1 Apogee board with 2 256mb
sticks...

COPPER CPU SHIMS: The Definitive Answer !! by
rms
Ok, my gut feeling was that installing a copper shim was a mod that could
provide measurable benefits. My reasoning was as follows: Presently my
Maze3 waterblock is only slightly warm at the edges of the block, indicating
a large thermal gradient between the center water channel and the...

Worth getting Barton 2500 now that Athlon64 is here? by
Steve Wolfe
I run XP. About 7 or 8 months ago I was going to upgrade my ailing
700MHz Duron for a Barton 2500.
But has the attractiveness of the Barton 2500 approach disappeared
on account of Athlon 64 now being more popular these days?
I don't know much about Athlon 64 expect I have heard...

Overclocking an unlocked XP2400+ by
Mattrixx
Well, I have succeeded in overclocking my XP2400+ T-Bred (B) from default
multiplier 15X and 2000MHz *up* to present 17X (9X) and 2306.57MHz at 135.60
System clock. Thats a 300 MHz increase from default.
This was obtained by slowly incrementally increasing the multiplier, V-core
and bus speed up...

Kobian KT133 FSX - CPU detect problem by
Zotin Khuma
Last Monday, lightning struck a friend's house and damaged several
computers that are connected as a neighbourhood LAN. In one of these
some chips on the mobo were literally blown up. I removed the
processor (an Athlon XP 2400+) and asked the owner and his uncle (a
close friend and fairly...

NOT trolling, but CL SBLive has some serious problems!! by
jakesnake66
I know this has been discussed before, and I'm not trying to be critical of
peoples' choices - what works for you works for you, and that's great.
However, the never-ending problems and little nit-picky issues with SBLive
cards never ceases to amaze me. How in the hell did this company gain...
