Kinda OT, how good is Farcry? by
Asestar
I read many posts talking about Farcry and it's good thing.
I have to ask how good is this game, gameplay and fun wise? I know it's got
beautiful visuals and so forth, but so did Unreal2, which turned out to be
one booring game. I didn't even finish it (or maybe I did, can't bother...

6800GS_IN, 9800Pro_OUT by
Ed Forsythe
Hi Troops,
After much deliberation I finally decided to deep six my venerable
9800Pro/128 and replace it with a 6800GS/AGP. I'm trying to decide between
the eVGA and the XFX cards. Both are clocked and have 350MHz cores and
1000MHz memory. The only difference is that the XFX has dual DVI while...

How does 9800 Pro compare with modern cards? by
Bobby
You can pick up a 9800 Pro for £85 ($140) just now and I was wondering how
this card compares (on an AGP system) with more modern cards?
Do X700/800 or nVidia 6600/6800 blow it away? Can it play modern games? And
will be able to play new games that come out in the next 12 months? And,
finally,...

So AGP is slated for complete obsolesence? by
Doug
The funny thing is I would guess that with the faster system memory speeds
DIME (or is it AGP texture memory) would be more viable than ever. I mean
we're finally getting system memory fast enough (and in large enough
quantities) to keep up w/AGP speeds and they get rid of AGP completely? I'd
think...

Zalman ZM80C with a 9800 Pro? by
Ted
I'm in the process of selecting some bits to stop the incessant wine of my
PC, with the 9800 Pro and P4 stock cooler being the worst offenders.
Having looked around the web, the Zalman ZM80C seems to be the best as far
as noise is concerned - am I correct? Are there any alternatives I may...

FarCry on Win98 with 1GB memory by
DrWho
Well... I thought I had a pretty darned kick-ass machine, until I tried
to play FarCry. :)
From what I've been reading, my biggest problem with FarCry is that I
have only 512MB of RAM. So, I'm planning to buy another 512MB. Here's
the hitch: I'm running Win98SE (please - no discussion of why...

Nvidia bypassed the 3dmark2003-330 anti-cheat patch?!? by
Roger Squires
So Nvidia bypassed the 3dmark2003-330 anti-cheat patch in their latest
official drivers?!? That's what this article says
http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/antidetect/index.html
If true this is un-freaking-believable. It takes brass balls to do that.
Hats off to the Nvidia legal and marketing...

CPU vs GPU by
cowboyz
Skybuck Flying wrote:
Hi,
Today's CPUs are in the 3000 to 4000 MHZ clock speed range.
Today's GPU's are in the 250 to 600 MHZ clock speed range.
I am wondering if GPU's are holding back game graphics performance
because their clock speed is so low ?

I hope Gabe Newell gets CANCER by

Hey fat wad,
I hope you get cancer, it'll tune your ' half-life ' aerial to what's
important in life, instead of jacking off to a couple of thousand
polygons floating around the screen.
Having to listen to your messianic ramblings about a ****ing computer
game for the last year or so, from you...

waiting to hear even more from the company -- but here's what we have
so far.
