To Whom it may concern: In April, 2002 I purchased a Maxtor Personal Storage disk 3000LE primarily for backups. For years I've been reading articles in the Mags and by knowledgeable columnists. One must back up his important files. Now, I actually never had a problem with the computer crashing,...

Darn, is my Hard Disk Drive finished? Can't read it. by eb7g
I have a 120GB Western Digital Caviar that is less than two years old. I was rendering a movie from it when it froze and then nothing could read it again. The computer bios will see it, but windows can't. Can't seem to access it in anyway, even to reformat it. It spins and seems fine.... Any idea...

External USB 2.0 CD-RW stuttering by ECM
I just bought a Pacific Digital 52X24X52 external USB2.0 CD-RW, along with a CompUSA generic 2-port USB2.0 card. I installed them last night, and it seemed to work out - the drive is recognized appropriately, and reads and writes to CD-R. SiSoft Sandra 2004 reports a drive index of ~8000 - a little...

Sony G520P dark shades next to lines of text. by Ed V
Currently I am seeing visible transparent shades of grey next to lines of black text that gradually fade away after about an inch or two on my monitor. They are the same height as the line of text. The resulting effect is that on a text heavy document, like an essay on Word, will have like a...

Hi, I'm planning on building my own system, and I've pretty much decided on everything except for the hard drive. I'm looking into 120GB SATA drives - is there any major difference between Maxtor, Seagate, WD, Hitachi, etc? Does anyboby recommend a specific drive? Thanks - Eddie.

Pentium v AMD by Eddie
I doing some research into which processor would be better for a multi-media system used by a graphics design company does anyone have any thoughts on the matter? If so any opinions on processor/motherboard combinations would also be greatfully recieved.
