power inverter by
jinxy[_2_]
Hey all, I am looking to pirchase a power inverter for my car to power
my laptop on a road trip. The laptop is a Toshiba and it looks like
19v on the adapter. Any suggestions on what size and how many watts I
should have to run the laptop without any power issues? Thanks,
Jinxy

Transcend 8GB Jetflash220 Fingerprint Security USB Flash Drive by
Des
Hi
Has anyone plaid with this kind of thing. I was wondering if I use
fingerprint to unlock, can I take it to another PC and do the same?
does it require software installed on a PC. If so it wouldn't. Also
older PCs like XP with USB 1.0. Any one played with this technology.
TIA
Desmond.

Battery or transformer by
Don Phillipson[_4_]
My UPS, Belkin 375, was guaranteed for 3 years -- and just failed after 42
months. The component obviously running too hot was not the battery
(as expected) but the transformer. So I am undecided whether to
replace the battery; I would not attempt to replace the transformer.

OT Netflix or similar? by
John Doe
I am doing the free trial (they do require a credit/bank card).
Anybody use it? Is there anything similar worth checking out?
Seems to me that the search engine would be everything.
By the way... I don't know how regional this is, whether there are
similar services available to other countries.

OT Led Zeppelin lyrics by
John Doe
Assuming everybody was a Led Zeppelin fan, or at least knows what
it is. Recently, PBS had somebody(s) from Led Zeppelin on stage.
How weird. Anyway... I have had the song "Rock and Roll" stuck in
my head for two days, perhaps because I had never before
deciphered the lyrics "carry me back, baby,...

CFM calculator to get rid of HEAT (TDP or WATTS) by
Skybuck Flying[_2_]
Hello,
I'm curious if it's possible to build a powerfull PC/iCore/GPU/Cuda PC
without getting into heat problems ! ;)
For example CPU has about 30 TDP (which is close to watts, otherwise find
watts listing) and GPU could have as much as 200 to 300 TDP (watts) (top
model for maximum...

Canon Pixma MP145 by
Man-wai Chang
I noticed that it's not available in US. I can only find MP140 and
MP150. As a result, I am not 100% sure whether ink cartridges for
MP140/MP150 could be used for MP145.
Cartridges: CL-41, PG-40

direction of cooling air by
Timothy Daniels[_3_]
It has been said here that blowing air into a PC case at the front
keeps the case and small air leakage pathways cleaner because
a filter can be put at the front fan to filter out the dust. The
trade-offs are the need to clean the filter periodically, how much
the filter reduces the air flow, and...

Do I need some 2 DIMMs DDR2 memory kits to work fine ? by
Castor Nageur[_2_]
Hi all,
I plan to replace my 4x2GB DDR2 memories by some 4x2GB ECC memories (I
had an issue with the non-ECC memory so I now want my system to be
safe with ECC).
My Gigabyte motherboard (GA-P35-DS4 rev 1.1) only supports 8 GB max
dispatched in 4x2GB DIMM (so I suppose I can not plug 2x4GB).
My...

ventilated covers in empty drive bays? by
Orson Cart
Most tower PCs have 3 or 4 CD/DVD bays, and plastic panels clipped
in where there is no drive. Now I have seen some cases that instead
have a mesh cover that allows airflow. Also in place where a floppy
disk would sit - they are getting rare nowadays.
Now is this good for cooling? I thought that...

Graphics cards by
dogbreath
I have a 20" LCD montior that can support 1600x1200 resolution. I have
a Matrox G550 graphics card that supports a max of 1280x1024 in DVI,
but will provide 1600x1200 in VGA. Well that's weird, but it works, so
I use it.
Then the G550 crapped out. Fortunately I had a spare from another
computer,...
