AMD CPU's by
Halfgaar
Hi
I'm completly confused my all of AMD's 64 bit CPU's. They have an Ahtlon 64
coming up, there is a Opteron, (claw/sledge)Hammer, you name it.
What 64 bit CPU's exactly are there, what codenames are used and how are
they all different?
TIA

boot problem by
cntrybob
The pc was working fine one night, the next day wouldn't boot up.
On the power up screen, it checks the processor, checks the memory and
then hangs at checking drives. I just have a floppy and a single hard
drive.
Accessing Bios, in standard CMOS setup, hard disc is set to Auto detect.

Hello all!
In the last few weeks I've noticed the system clock on my computer is

later time in the day that I find the clock...

more than 2 eide hard drives by
Algo
How can I install more than 2 eide drives into my computer system? I've
heard that only 2 at a time are possible. EIDE's are cheaper and since I
bought a digital camcorder I would like to store the videos on disk so I can
reuse the tapes.

More USB questions by
Ben Fullerton
My USB education is progressing, but slowly.
After getting error messages on the installation of a new 5 port Mercury
USB2 card, I found (noticed) the PnP/PCI Device Listings in the BIOS boot
screens.
I was surprised to find that some of the IRQ numbers are the same for more
then one device....

XP2800: barton vs t'bred by
Li'l ol' me
I recently ordered an XP2800 thoroughbred and got sent an XP2800 barton.
I should be delighted with the barton having 512kb and all, but I've lost
about 200mhz and might as well have bought an XP2600(?)
So are there any credible comparisons (ie benchmarks) of the two so I can
see what I've...

I've always gone to the physical returns counter and spoken to a human

Replacing the processor Fan by
Andrew
Hi, I need to replace my processor fan with a new one because it keeps
making a loud noise when booting. I am currently using the fan/heatsink that
came with my boxed Athlon 1900 XP Processor.
Will it be possible to replace the fan without replacing the heatsink? Is
this advisable?
I do not really...

Removable harddrive racks, bad idea? by

Hi,
I'm about to buy a 80gb 7200rpm harddrive, either a Maxtor, seagate or WD, 2mb or 8mb cache, I
was thinking of getting
a removable harddrive rack for it, but then I got to thinking that these drives tend to run alittle hot,
and maybe it might be
a bad idea for my drives lifespan.

USB External 56K modem, comments? by
Adrian
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/Spec1/1328812.html
Anyone got any opinions about this modem? I suppose the key attraction is
that it's USB host powered, so no power supply or serial cable to worry
about.
Do USB 56K modems work just as good as a regular 56K modem with serial
cable? I've not got any...
