CCL too careful for their own good by
Dr Teeth
Use a credit card to place an order, with a card that I've used
before. Because this order was for £1,400 and the last one for £40,
they would not deliver to my work address as they had done before.
Cancelled the order as I am not prepared to spend that sort of money
without credit card...

New Hard Drive for Evesham Laptop by
AMO
I bought a laptop from Evesham a while ago. Its a Voyager Pro 64 A3200+.
The laptop is no longer under warranty. However, I think that the hard
drive is dying. When it accesses certain parts of the disk it seems to take
forever and sometimes crashes my machine. The machine was only...

Is original Samsung laser cartridge designed to fail quickly? by
David Peters
Following soem recent threads about Samsung lasers ...
The Samsung ML-1510 desktop laser printer takes the same toner
cartridge as the old ML-1710, ML-1750, ML-1210, etc.
I bought an ML-1510 here in the UK about two years ago. Of course,
the original 'starter' toner cartridge is only partially...

Spare parts for Asus laptops by
Chris Howells
Hi,
Does anybody know a source of Asus laptop parts in the UK? Asus does not
seem to want to sell them to end users directly.
I'm looking to buy a new keyboard for my Asus laptop (S5N) -- it wasn't
very good anyway and didn't particularly appreciate having drink spilt
on it last night ;)...

DABS returns policy by
jono
Just wondered if anyone else out there finds Dabs return policy unfair.
24 Oct 05 - Ordered a Plextor SATAII DVD writer
....which worked OK for a few weeks. However, it suddenly stopped
working - even the BIOS couldn't detect it?!
3 Jan 06 - Went through the Dabs returns...

Asus by
Mike Gasson
Anyone have any thoughts on Asus? I'm looking to buy an A6712U-LH
notebook. What is their backup like? I know I can get support if I buy
from Mesh, but I seem to remember there were some negative posts about
Mesh.

Comet..... my laptop saga (fairly long) by

I purchased an HP laptop from Comet in November last year, and from day
one, the DVD writer has played up, but i thought it was just me and the
software i was using to burn photo slideshows (I use Photodex Gold)
But at the end of January, the drive started to give way during
verifications,...

Problem with Planet Micro by
Bert
I would just like to share my experience with Planet Micro.
I ordered a Diamondmax 9 HDD and a Sony DDU1621 DVD rom as clearly described
in their online product description. When the delivery arrived I received a
refurbished Diamondmax 10 (the 10 has a different power connector to the 9)
and a...

CD-RW 1-4X media by
Jim Howes
Anyone know of someone stocking 1-4X CD-RW media at anything resembling sensible
prices.
'4X' media is typically no good here, as it is typically media from the low end
of the 'High Speed' range (and, courtesy of the specification, utterly
incompatible with 1-4X drives, which we seem to be...

Dabs Amazingly Cheap Pavilion T770 Price by
Walker
How do they do it? I'm shopping around for a new PC, armed only with an
AMEX because I've maxed out my Visa. Their £492 price for a Pavilion
T770 stood out like a sore thumb considering the spec, never mind that
it's approx. £200 quid more elsewhere. Example:

Dead screen on laptop by
Dave
If you have got a dead screen on a laptop and its out of warranty, on
average it will cost more than the laptop is worth to get a replacement.
If you can plug it into a computer monitor and get a picture, then just take
off the screen and use the laptop as a compact base unit.
I have done this a...

What are my rights by
JoeJoe
My Belkin modem/router dies last month.
Asked for an RMA on their website, but after hearing nothing for a couple of
week I spend a week trying to get hold of them over the phone. When I
finally managed they promptly send me a replacement under their life time
guarantee.
Yesterday (after 27 day)...
