Ant[_3_]
Hello.
It looks like my very old 19" Samsung SyncMaster 931BF monitor is dying
since it has problems turning on (black screens, flickers to black and
display fast, etc.) on multiple desktop computers. It is time to find a
replacement.
-22" horizontal width max(imum) due to my limited desk...

Power Supply.. by
SamC
I'm currently building a PC to play games, last thing I've not decided
on is a power supply, simply because I don't know!
I've seen them with prices ranging all over the place from £10 for a
400w to £70 for a 400w (UK).
What I'm wondering is, if I go for a cheap PSU, apart from noise and
heat...

Help: 40mb Instead of 80mb Data Rate/"Active negation" Problem? by
Darren Harris
Someone is testing out some LVD SCSI drives I gave him, and he told me
that the data rate with the cable I gave him is 40mb instead of the
advertised 80mb per second.
He said he thinks that some sort of "Active Negation" terminator is
needed, and I was wondering if someone could elaborate on what...

Phillips screw in back of Sun Ultra 30 computer, quite torn-up! :-) by
Barry L. Bond
Greetings!
I have a single screw, within a black "plastic" configuration, that
holds the metal left panel of my Sun Ultra 30 computer system.
The screw went in too tight. And, in trying to remove it, I have
really seriously "messed up" the phillips head of the screw. (Stripped
didn't...

Laptop Fan Not Working Well by
Neil[_2_]
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 which is 1.25 years old. When I first got it,
the fan worked great, and you could feel the air being blown out the back.
Now you can't anymore, and the laptop's getting very hot. There was a lot of
dust on the intake vents, and I blew the dust off of those, but it...

bizarre project by

I am trying to design a new computer because I am unsatisfied with
current models. The first thing I have to do is redesign the
motherboard: it will probably require me to repackage at least some of
the microchips. First, however, i need a little help. If anyone would
be so kind, please e-mail me...

Are ATA and IDE interchangeable terms? by
Doc
I'm looking into getting a faster, bigger hard drive. The drives on
the shelf at the local computer stores all list ATA/100 or ATA/133. I
see articles on the net on IDE/ATA vs SCSI. So, is ATA the same as
IDE? If not, what's the relationship?
I'm running an IBM 300PL 550mhz PIII, Win98 first...

Primary Hard Disk Failure by

I put in a new 40gig Maxtor HDD in September and it's worked
fine...This afternoon my comp was acting a little cranky and I decided
to reboot it. It was going fine, the drive needed a check disk, so I
let that go. I checked back and it had a blue screen
"INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DISK" error. Rebooted. Got...
