ml380 + 5 MSA30 by
Umno Skuchen
Hi
What type of cable do I need to connect 5 MSA30 to external SCSI channel
on ML380. It has embedded Ultra 320 Smart Array 6i Controller, and
with each of MSA30 I get 12 feet VHDCI to VHDCI cable. It's obvious that
I won't use 5 cables, and I don't know what type of cable I need.
How does this...

Question about Infortrend (maybe more generic iSCSI) by
Andrew Gideon
I've been looking at the Infortrend iSCSI/SATA units, and there's one
glaring aspect: none have dual controllers (for failover).
Is there some fundamental reason for this, perhaps in the nature of iSCSI?
Thanks...

Unseen Partitions,External booting & NTLDR by
Bluecamel
The pc froze, on starting up the next day 'windows did not star
successfully', then it goes into a rebooting loop , so the blue scree
disappears too quickly to read. On trying to start up through 'saf
mode' it would stop at 'mup.sys', and reboot agai
without entering XP. I went into BIOS and tried...

Auto-Rewind on Exabyte VXA drive? by
Jeremy Billones
We've gotten an Exabyte VXA autoloader to be hooked into our system
for backups. It appears that after every command issued to the
system, it rewinds the tape. Whether it's a write or an fsf,
it's rewinding to the beginning after each operation, which is
rather annoying.
Is there a configuration...

RAID 5 on partitioned drives by
[email protected]
I just ordered a Promise s150 SX4 SATA RAID card and 4x 200GB hard
drive. It's mainly going to be used as a file server. Here's my
question. I was thinking about what allocation unit size I was going
to use and I really need to use 2 different size. I do a lot of video
work and take digital...

Email mining, searching, archiving & auditing by
Terence Pua
I'm working on a possible web-based solution to email mining,
searching, archiving & auditing.
I'm soliciting input from this group to find out whether there is a
need for such a solution for individuals and SMEs.
The solution would incorporate some remote fetching (via IMAP/POP) or
Outlook...

Hi,
I've been trying to find some detailed information/reviews about

hardware raid 10 over raid 5 by
thomaslally
Disk space is not a concern, performance and above all failover
capacity are more important to us. I've seen plenty of posts about
RAID 5 and RAID 10 (1 + 0)
But, the people (such as silver Dell tech support)I was asking to are
mostly suggesting me to use RAID 5, especially HARDWARE RAID 5 with...

Experience with Redhat's GFS/Cluster Suite? by
Andrew Gideon
Does anyone have experience with this that they can share? I've some
questions, which I'll list below, but I'm also looking for a general
impression of how well this works.
Our initial plan is to configure two GFS-ing machines sharing a dual-hosted
SCSI array. Later, we'll shift this to iSCSI...
