More drives = faster RAID 5 ? by
[email protected]
I've question regarding RAID 5, is there any benefit in going beyond 3 hard
disks when you're using RAID 5 ?.
Obviously if you need huge amounts of storage then 'yes' but if you have
modest storage requirements (say 8 GB) and need faster read/writes is there
any benefit from having more disks ?...

Suggestions for planned bonnie++ benchmark by
Jochen Kaiser
Dear all,
I've posted some time ago and reported problems with latency on our SAN.
We've come to the conclusion that we've to run a benchmark, we've
suggested bonnie++ and our Datacenter has welcomed that idea.
We mainly host DB2 Databases on the SAN and have an application which
writes (and...

File weirdness, not the usual multisession problem AFAIK by

Can anyone explain this? I've burnt some files in at least two

than the first session with certain media/hardware/software
combinations, but this is what threw me: Disc is in the drive in which
it was burnt; drive is connected to...

BL
Hi,
I have a clariion fc5300 and a brocade 2400 switch in my lab. I also
have EMC's navisphere manager but I do not have navisphere hosts agent
( mainly for solaris and hp-ux 11iv2 ) so I can't use the navisphere
manager to control my storage. Does anyone have? Please help and
thanks.

Suggestions on data replication by
Rob Turk
For a Windows-only site with a couple of Win2K clusters, SQL, Exchange,
Citrix, and IIS I'm looking to build an overview of viable ways of real-time
or near real-time replication of data to a remote site. No access to raw
fibre, just TCP/IP with decent bandwidth (30-50Mbit/s dedicated).
I'd like...
