Benno...

I'm about to reconfigure the disks on some of our servers and I was
wondering if anything can be gained (performance wise) by choosing none
default RAID stripe sizes.
The servers are Compaq ML370's with SmartArray 5300 controllers. Two of
them will have have six 36GB drives in RAID5 and...

Ewald Jenisch
Hi,
We're currently running a couple of SAN-Switches in a HP C-Class Blade
interconnected to our central switches (Brocade) with redundant links.
Though the central SAN-Switch does have a trunking license the
Blade-Switches don't have one (yet).
My questions:
o) Is a trunking license really...

Adaptec NAS Snap 4500 IP by
cufliflox
I'm trying to setup the Adaptec Snap 4500 for the first time.
Since we don't have DHCP on the network it defaults to IP 10.10.10.10 and
subnet 0.0.0.0. The management software recognizes the name of the server
and show it is online, but has the IP configuration greyed-out in the
context menu...

die?
I am running ubuntu dapper on a intel pentium III 800mhz server.

NDMP Question by
Curtis Preston
The format used by NDMP is NOT in the Spec. It's the only way they got
all the NAS vendors to agree to use it. NDMP is only a communication
protocol. It says "hi. I'm here to back you up, please send a backup
stream to this device." NDMP then does what it's told and tells your
backup app what...

Thecus N2100 NAS by
Althalus
I recently bought a Thecus N2100 YES box. I was after a network disk
which I could store HD video footage on (at least until someone decides
on a DVD format). Basically it has an Intel Xscale chip, 128MB memory
and (I've put in) 2 x 300gb Maxtor eSATA disks.
Turning the box on I get the startup...

Very simple scenario. 1 LUN from any dynamically expandable RAID disk
subsystem. into 1 disk group into 1 volume with 1 filesystem.
We wish to grow the filesystem and dont want to add another second LUN
to the diskgroup because of lots of reasons, least of which is we paid
lots of money for that...
