Output to TV... by
Jonni
A simple one for you regulars I would imagine.
I have a small Biostar Ideq Media Centre PC in my sitting room which is
currently connected to a 15" TFT monitor. What I would like to do is
have an output into the back of my 32" Sony CRT TV also - I want to be
able to choose either input and...

Anyone use a tyan K8WE(s2895) with a Tai-Chi case??? by
jeff22
I just got a Tai-Chi VB5000SNA case (made by Thermaltake). I bought it
at a show.
The box says that it supports Extended ATX and so does the manual.
The problem is, now that I got it home, I look on the manufacturer's
website and it says in the FAQ that it does NOT support extended ATX
(but they...

Why do I get 4-wire fans? by
Dave (from the UK)
I have asked this before, but still have not resolved the issue.
I am looking to get a couple of 92 mm 4-wire case fans. By 4-wire, I
mean they should have a "Sence" wire which is the fan tachometer output
with two pulses per revolution and a "Control" signal wire to control
the speed (Pulse...

troublehsooting defective DC jack, Inspiron 4150 by
teamgs
Greetings,
Before finding a used mobo ($900 new from Dell!!!), I thought I
might try repairing the issue myself. I am fairly handy with a
multitester, and soldering iron (though not so much so with PCB's).
The unit in question apparently was damaged when the family dog chewed
through the AC...

About that artic silver stuff... by
[email protected]
I was reading about various high performance thermal pastes
and I started to wonder what AMD and Intel use to make the
thermal connection between their CPU cores and their metal
heat spreaders the cpu's all come with now.
Seems like I've never seen any explanation of how they do it
in any of the...

USB pins - how do I know if it's X or Y? by
Saruman
Hi all.
I'm putting a syetm together for a friend. It's now time to plug the
front USB header into the mobo, and I've hit a snag. The motherboard
has pins called Dy-, Dx-, Dy+ and Dx+, but the cable only has D- and
D+. How do I know if I should connect to a Dy or Dx pin?

Running power supply with just fans by
[email protected]
Would it be safe to run a 500W power supply with the only load being 4
12V fans (and a few LED lights) or would this not be sufficient load to
operate safely? If not, about how much load should I put on it?

PSX Controller on PC by
Ricky Romaya
I've heard that PSX (Playstation) controller could be modified to work on
PC, connected to the parallel port. What I want to ask is whether those
modified controllers could be used as joystick/joypad substitute (i.e.
could be used on PC games which supports 'normal' PC joysticks/joypad).
TIA

Hard Drive Size Limitations? by
Steve Wade
Hi Guys,
Is there any way of determining the maximum size of HDD I can use on my PC?
Is it determined by the mainboard, the bios or the OS?
Finally, if the size if a HDD exceeds the maximum, can I work around it by
having partitions equal to that limit?
Best regards,

Recommending a PC case by
[email protected]
I'd like to find a sturdy, easy-access (and relatively quiet) case to
power an Athlon 64 3700+ system. Video will be Radeon 9250AGP, with a
Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 motherboard.
Here are two cases I've found online -- one a well-recommended Antec
($102), the other a Powmax value case ($35).
I'm...

Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Alt+Del Problem! by
xubomber
It's definitely something with the keyboard then, if it only happens
with that one keyboard and is fixed by switching it out. I can't
think of how releasing a broken alt key would standby the computer
though... Also, try seeing if it happens no matter which alt key you
use, or if it's just the alt...
