Adding bigger drive to old computer by
twiceasshort
I was given an old computer from work. When I tried to replace the
original 6.4 GB hhd with a Western Digital 40 GB hhd, the BIOS would
not recognize the new drive. Would a seperate IDE controller card
solve the limitation problem?
Thanks in advance

NEC Laptop CD-ROM Problem by
Brian
Hello,
I've got an older NEC Laptop (NEC Versa LX VL440CL60) and the CD-ROM has
suddenly stopped reading disks. The BIOS and Windows 2000 says it is there
but it refuses to read a disk. I've taken the drive out and put it back in
to no avail. Suggestions?
Thanks,
Brian

Is USB2/Firewire enclosure independent of computer BIOS? by
Lila Duncan
Hi,
I've been discussing some external enclosure problems here and
elsewhere recently. These have been mainly related to the full
capacity of large hard drives not being recognised when used in some
enclosures.
Some clearly knowledgable people here have indicated that the case
electronics are...

Questions:
If we decide to run redundant storage Onboard as data Back-up
(accepting drawbacks in reliability compared to Remote BU),
how should one decide which config (the various choices of SATA vs USB2
etc) is best for his box?
What is the best way -from the Performance priority- to connect...

Hello folks.
I just bought a ByteCC ME-740 external enclosure for my 250GB drive.
After a few hours of use with the units stacked on top of one another, I
noticed that I could fry an egg on the chassis of the top drive. It was
HOT! I wrote to ByteCC about the heat problem and they suggested I...

My laptop has a Windows modem chip described as follows:
PCTel 2304WT V.92 MDC
I would like to know if this chip supports fax before I go and purchase
faxing software. The hardware info utility AIDA32 v. 3.93 does not reveal
anything about the chip's capability.
