Pretty good explanation of x86-64 by HP by
Yousuf Khan
I found this whitepaper from HP to be pretty good, it is surprisingly
candid, considering HP was the coinventor of the Itanium. It does a
pretty good job of explaining and summarizing the similarities and
differences between AMD64 and EM64T, and their comparison to the
Itanium's IA64 instruction...

A limit on number of USB hubs in Windows 7? by
Yousuf Khan[_2_]
I've got three 4-port hubs on my system. From time to time after a
reboot, some of them don't enumerate properly, and you have to unplug
and replug them. Is there some way in software to get Windows to rescan
them? Of course that won't do any good if the USB hub that your mouse
and keyboard are...

BTX Technology/Native Command Queuing by
AWriteny
After 2 Gateways (with poor peformance records), I decided to go for a Dell.
I'm not a techie so an above average 'puter for the masses is what I wanted.
Some questions still need answers, though. For example:
1) Gateway (not Dell) offers BTX Technology. Is this something most companies
will pick...

Best Last Generation P4 Motherboards? by
Jim Lyons
I'd like to replace my Abit BH6 with one of the now, relatively
inexpensive, Socket 478, 400 or 533MHZ FSB, P4 motherboards people
are currently selling new on Ebay for under $50. But I'd like to
continue using the two, 80 GIG, ATA, Maxtor HD's I'm currently running

Gaming AMD vs Intel by

I read the following article

on amdzone.com.
Extremetech looks at gameplay experience comparing AMD and Intel CPUs.
I'm surprised they used DDR2 533, but then of course if they were on
the real ball they would be using faster than DDR400 using the Lanparty

NASA seizes new Opportunity after losing its Spirit on Mars by
Poppa Capp
Yeah, the sorry USA space junk known as Spirit broke down - attributed
to the flash memory. NASA should have sprung those extra bucks and
gotten Kingston memory instead of that sorry ass IBM proprietary ****.
The Russians can have (another) laugh at our expense.

Intel makes arguing and getting into disputes easier by
Yousuf Khan
I'm not sure how this relates to their main business model. Maybe it's a
new business model? Intel has created a new Firefox add-in that let's
you see disputed claims on websites and go to websites with their
counterclaims.
Here's where to find the add-in:...

AMD patent about inverse hyperthreading by

There was some speculation about AMD working on a mechanism that would
allow a multiprocessor/multicore system to gang-up the cores and use it
to execute single-threads much faster, also nicknamed as inverse
Hyperthreading. I think you could even call it "micro multithreading",
since it's finding...
