Prescott new instructions - will they really make a difference? by
scooby
I am planning to buy a new home desktop computer.
I currently have a Pentium 166 - I know it's old.
When I bought this computer in Nov 1996 - it was top of the line. But
only one month later, the Pentium 200 with MMX came out.
Very shortly thereafter new games came out which required MMX, which...

DDR configurations by
[email protected]
I posted this on another forum, but got no replies
This is probably a generic question:
I have read that on an AMD 2800+ system, that having (2) 256 MB DDRs
are better than one 512MB, since the DDR dual function requires two
diff banks.
I have an ECS N2U400-A board which has 3 DDR slots and...

enabling the x87 by
Scott J. McCaughrin
Please explain how to enable the x87 to execute INT 75h calls. I
unmasked the IRQ2 bit in PIC #1 (at 21h) and then unmasked the
IRQ13 bit (#5) in PIC #2, but to no avail. I have unmasked all 6
exception-flags in the x87's control word.
I am on a Dell Latitude laptop.
Thank you.

Athlon XP vs MP by
sds
Hellow.
I've read on a few websites that the XP can be used on dual boards by
closing one of the L5 bridges.
What does this Bridge do exactly?
Does it enable someting in the CPU or does it just tell the mobo that a MP
is present in the socket?
Are there any real differnces in core structure...
