Send your spam abuse report to: , that will work.
The "X-Complaints-To: " does not work; it
is presumably spoofed.

how sensitive are HDs to vibration? by
sillyputty[_2_]
How sensitive are today's HDs to vibration and movement? Should a
desktop not be moved at all while the HDs are in operation? Are laptop
HDs less susceptible? Thx.

Turn off hard disk (Sleep single drive) by
rx77
maybee this tool will help you:
revosleep (http://revosleep.realspooky.de). revoSleep lets your hard
disk sleep in few seconds. You can lock different hard disks, so you
can be sure they won't wake up.

Netvista 6643 hard disk removal by
[email protected]
Hello everybody
We have a broken-down Netvista 6643-13D in our office. We could not find
anyone who could repair it. So we are thinking of throwing it away. But
before we do so we have to take out the hard disk because it contains
confidential data.
We don't seem to be able to dismantle the...

The Windows 2000/XP USB 128 GB problem by
Svend Olaf Mikkelsen
When the Windows 2000/XP USB 128 GB problem is present, sector
268435455 cannot be addressed.
It happens when an LBA 28-bit command is sent to the disk, and the
disk only supports LBA 48-bit commands for addressing that sector.
The problem can be detected using the Findpart version 4.87...

Maxtor MaxBlast 5 - Need help! by
photogman
I recently installed MaxBlast 5 and cannot use the "clone disk"
function to copy the contents of my internal D: drive to my external
H: drive. I might add that my D: drive is a RAID1 array. I can copy
the contents from C: drive to my H: drive and that in this situation
C: is a standalone drive...

HDD use on both PC *AND* Mac by
jim
Can an external drive be used to backup a PC first, then transfer that
data to a MAC (with the Mac being the end O/S on which the drive will
be used from there on out)?
I'm wondering if it is configured for use on a PC, then it may in turn
have to be re-configured for use on the MAC, and during...

Tivo drive won't boot in my PC???? by
mike
I bought a Tivo with 40GB hard drive and want to use it in a PC.
It's a Western Digital WD400LB-55DNA0
I can fdisk/format it. I can read/write it. It just won't boot.
BIOS gets to the point "verifying DMI pool data" and hangs.
Tried Ranish Partition manager with the same result.
Tried another...

Silicon Image 0680 + 3114 on same system ? by
Andre Majorel
I've bought a Connectland "carte PCI RAID ATA 133 0703014" dual
IDE controller (Silicon Image 0680, PCI 1095:0680 rev 02).
Unfortunately it conflicts with the Silicon Image 3114 on the
motherboard (PCI 1095:3114 rev 02).
If I disable the on-board 3114 in the BIOS, the 0680 works but I
lose 4 SATA...

I tried to connect a Maxtor Ultra EIDE ATA/133 120GB hard drive to my
old Asus P2B mobo. During boot, bios message says "Detecting HDD" but
it never goes beyond the screen. I tried as Master and Slave, but same
message (different line).
Are ATA/133 drives compatible with older motherboards?

just using a storage drive. But now the question arises: if it's
formatted to receive files from windows, and then plugged in for on-
going use with her Mac, will she need to reformat for the Mac use and
lose all her files? Any...
