AIT2 or 3 tape drives vs VXA-2 by
Pastor Randy Starkey
Anyone have any advice on VXA-2 tape drives versus AIT 2 or 3? The AIT 3
drives are more expensive (also faster and greater capacity), but the tapes
are cheaper than VXA, even though VXA is less capacity. VXA is Exabyte only,
while AIT is Sony, but AIT seems to have been shared with some...

yesterday, it was working great until then, it was like a "sudden
death", I didn't have the chance to save my files, it makes a VERY
loud and strange noise, and obviously it doesn't work at all, BIOS
doesn't detect it, I don't care...

Safe to place a hard drive right next to a computer case speaker? by

I know as a general rule it's important to keep magnets away from hard
drives, but after searching on Google it sounded like (though no one
stated it...

Only thing I could do? by
Richard
I'm running WIN98SE. I've got that freebie program called Letter Assigner.
With it I was able to assign my Iomega external drive as Z: and my Iomega
zip drive as Y:, and I've made my DVD drive X:. All was fine in "My
Computer". Problem though was with Partition Magoc, whenever I had the
Iomega...

Backup Question by
Bob
I am going to start backing up my disk using the backup utility that
comes with Win2K. This is in addition to creating two archives with
Drive Image Pro.
The reason is if I have to recover using an archive, I need an easy
way to bring my disk up to date. I am not an expert with backup
utilities so...

I'm going to have to send my HD back to the manufacturer who is sending me a

I don't think there is any critical information on it, though I have bought
things with my credit card over the internet. But, I don't think my card

SATA performance vs standard IDE for small database server by
Bib
I'm looking at building a small database box for departmental use and
am curious if anyone has looked into if SATA would work better than
standard IDE for an application with a good number of simultaneous
read/write requests. There's a box doing something similar right now
in the office with...

Hi,
I currently have a raid-0 system consisting of two Samsung 160gig SATA
drives (well, technically one of them is PATA and I've converted it to SATA
but isn't that what samsung does anyway!? ;) )
I was reading pages about the Raptor WD740 drive and constantly wiping the
drool from my keyboard...

Drive Image 7: Can restore only 1 part w/o affecting 2nd? by
Markeau
I partitioned my main drive into c: and d:, but have only been using
DI7 to image c: ... if I restore one of the c: images can it restore
right into the existing c: partition? or will it just restore the
imaged c: to the entire disk (thus overwriting the d: part)?

Worth upgrading to ATA100? by
Tomas
Hi all,
Just added a new Western Digital ATA100 120GB harddrive to my old
computer. The computer has only an ATA33 interface but programs
launch much faster than before. Would I notice much more improvement
with the addition of an ATA100 controller card to the system?
Thanks in advance

Sata and Data Corruption by
Robert Neville
My system continues to have data corruption issues with the large

on an external 200 GB hard drive. The hard drive in question is a
Seagate 200 GB 7200 rpm ATA in a Speeze enclosure 350ufl (firewire).
After running most software...
