Troubleshooting SANs by
[email protected]
I work for a consulting firm, and have begun to do troubleshooting on
small SANs, mostly HP MSA1500cs based.
Many times the problem the customer is talking about is some vague
intermittent slowness issue or something like that. In cases like
this, my troubleshooting goes something like this:

Bluetooth storage device for mobile phones . . by
Barbara
This device is a sort of small HDD in your hand but it could be better
if somehow fitted it with the cellphone, as it will not be hassle free
to carry two devices(cellphone and BluOnyx). The amount of data that
you can store in this device ranges between 1 GB to 40 GB. This 85 x
54 x 6 mm devices...

[Q] How can the physical environment slow a drive down? by
Maurice Volaski
I'm talking about a rackmount computer (Tyan GT24) with 4 drive cages
for SATA drives which plug into a backplane. If I have the drives laid
out atop the computer with the SATA cables running over the open case
into the RAID card, the drives are very fast (70-80 MB/second). Now if I

WWNs of HBAs by
ernest
Hi all,
I'm trying to look for ways to find out the WWNs of the HBAs from
different types of hosts.
Solaris:
For 5.10 there's the command "fcinfo hba-port". For 5.8/5.9 and on
certain 5.10 boxes without binary, I have difficulty getting the info
- /var/adm/messages doesn't seem to contain the...

want to upgrade this base
server to...

Reading DLT7000 tapes on SDLT drive? by
Chris
I've seen product literature that claims SDLT drives are read-
compatible with tapes written by the 35/70gb DLT7000.
My SDLT 160/320 drive won't even load the tapes. (software not an
issue here)
Has anyone had any luck doing this? If so, is there a trick? Maybe
only the SDLT 110/220 can do it?...

I know this is a broad question, but here goes...
If performance were not an issue, what is better to stick to in an

What is generally more flexible and easier to manage?

how about paging to SAN? by
[email protected]
Hi, I'm considering to deploy my paging space in a SAN product, say,
HDS AMS1000. I know it's a safer decision to use rootvg but I think it
worths a discussion.
It's a olap application so the paging is major of big data blocks.
Pls share your opinions and pls share the experience using a paging...

I finally bought myself another HD tonight, as the 80gig one I have not is not nearly enough. I was just wondering if I should transfer Windows over to my newer, faster, and much bigger hard drive, or leave it isolated on my old one? My new hard drive is definately superior, as it has 16mb cache as...
