Experience with QNAP TS-101/201 and Synology CS-406e by
Carsten Schaudel
Hi everybody,
I'm currently in the decision-phase for my home-NAS. My requirements a
500GB Raid1 (2*500)
CIFS
TwonkyServer (or equivalent)
if possible: NFS (this one seems to be a little hard to get, so this is not
a must)
low Power consumption.

NetApp FCP : find a lun's VPD page 83 identifier ? by
Arne Joris
NetApp filers allow you to create luns on top of volumes, and export
those as FCP targets.
Although the port/node WWN and lun number can be used to identify a
given target thus exported, these numbers can change (by re-exporing
the lun on a different lun number for example, or, God forbid,...

StorageTEK D178 by
[email protected]
I'm looking to buy a used D178. Do you need the appropriate software
to configure the SAN? I'm just looking to do basic SAN functionality
such as consolidating server storage into one main rack. I don't need
to share the logical arrays I create. Also, if I use the SAN for basic
functionality do...

SAN MSA-1500 performance problems by
Griff
Hi
We have a MSA 1500 SAN that is showing performance problems, presumably
due to the queue length? However, we don't think we're hitting it with
that much activity...we have three servers that each averge 1.11 MB/s
reads and average 0.18 MB/s writes (peaks can be much higher up to 17.9
MB/s...

Mixing SAN vendors by
mrs
Hi,
we want to connect different servers (HP, AIX, Windows, Solaris) with
different (!) HBA Ports to different (!) SANs - one port goes to a
CISCO SAN another port goes to a Brocade SAN.
(so we are not talking about mixing switches from different vendor in
the same fabric which of course would be...

Netapp F760 upgrade by
Fabio Erri
Hello,
we currently have a Netapp F760 with two FC9 shelfs doing NFS storage
for mail servers.
We have experienced a lack of performance in the last weeks: the cpu
level is still under 50%, so we suppose that the problem is the
read/write access to disks.
In your opinion, upgrading to F8xx NAS...

Problems With IBM LTO-TDX Firmware Upgrade Tool by
Will
I am trying to upgrade an IBM LTO2 tape drive from a firmware revision in
the 3000 series to 53Y3 using the IBM LTO-TDX tool under Windows.
First, is this utility still IBM's state of the art for firmware upgrades?
The UI and error checking look to be about 1987 quality software. ...

How to Enable eSATA? by
Will
I'm seeing a lot of enclosures these days brag about eSATA compatibility,
and I guess this translates as "External SATA". Is eSATA simply a
standard for how to make the cabling and connectors for external connections
more robust than the connectors used internally? If yes, how do you
convert...
