"Cool Running" Processors ? by rpl
Thinking about getting a new MB and because the fans in the old one drive me nuts, I'm trying to find a cool running processor; Crusoe doesn't make MBs yet (at least none that are in a reasonable price range), and I'm not quite geeky enough to get a PPC/Atari setup. Is there a modern Intel...

"Returned" boxed processor and heat sink by Clark
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I got this "returned" P4 2.40C processor from the store. It seems to be running OK, but I was wondering if the boxed heat sink/fan is set up correctly. The last time I put a boxed heatsink/fan on, it had some thermal compound (gray) on the bottom of the heat...

"Year of Itanium" by Yousuf Khan
Ottellini figures that Intel will have sold 100,000 Itaniums by year end. That doesn't seem to jive with most estimates, but regardless that's what Intel claims it will sell: http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/61/34114.html Yousuf Khan

1 o 2 MB di memoria cash? by max
Ciao a tutti.

1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or 2.8 GHz Pentium D by Eric L
I'm buying a new computer from tiger direct. The computer that i was looking at can come with an Intel Pentium D at 2.8 GHz, or an Intel Core 2 Duo at 1.8 GHz. And they both cost the same. Which is faster, and which will give me more value? Thanks Eric L.

I am trying to decide between a 1.8 gHz Xeon and a 2.8 gHz P4 for a single CPU file/print/database server for a small office. So far I have not found any clear explanation of the differences in or advantages of on over the other. Can anyone provide any information or references? -- _Bill_

133 FSB Slot1 P3 on 100 FSB 440GX possible? by Ghazan Haider
The subject asks it all. I have a new VA Linux 1000 with a 82440GX chipset and two slot 1 slots. eBay tells me among Pentium IIIs, 133 FSB chips are cheaper. I'm just wondering what will happen if anyone else here has tried running 133FSB chips underclocked to 100. I understand the processors core...

1GHZ Pentium IIs? by [email protected]
Hi, I've been looking up the Pentium II on Intel's website due to some problems we've had with our computer - the processor was a long shot, I know - and I was surprised to find that Intel didn't seem to have made any P2s of more than 450 MHZ speed. This puzzles me as ours is 1GHZ (and it...
