Booting from a USB key drive or memory-based storage? by
Jon
I'm looking for an alternative to booting a pc from a hard drive. I'm
most interested in a way to bring the computer up much faster. It
should involve something plugged into PCI, IDE, or USB but not a
removable media drive like a CD drive.
Does anyone know which motherboards give you an option...

Philippe Borel [Switzerland]
Hi there,
I just bought a CD-Burner on which there's an USB cable attached,

But now I'm just not 100% sure where this USB socket is located
on my mainboard...if at all! (No marking, no diagram at hand...but
I do have two external USB...

I have a mobo that hasn't been used in a short while (2 months). I tried to
boot it and all I get is a beep once per second. So what's going on??
I've discharged CMOS already and checked everything... Don't know what's
wrong.

Board, cpu or memory problem? by
Cole Clark
Almost certainly bad capacitors on the motherboard. Are they green and
gold?? Check carefully to see if they are bulged or leaking, and if so -
send the board to Homie for capacitor replacement.

Pretty sure you can get a parallel -to- USB adapter for the Epson (or
generic) Then plug it into USB and it will probably work better.

KT7A-RAID v1.0 Palo 2000+ boots only after hard reset by

Hi there!
I managed to get my KT7A and a Palomino 2000+ to run fine, no problems so

Okay, except for this one: Sometimes, when I restart my OS, the board hangs
in POST. After pressing the reset-button the system will boot fine.

AJ
Just upgraded to a XP2500 Barton 333fsb but not enough cash to upgrade the
memory too (512mg PC2700 costs more than the cpu!)
Anyone know the optimal settings on my ABIT KD7-RAID for this combination?
So far I have the FSB at 133 and the multiplier to x14 (133x14 = 1862mzh),
no other BIOS changes...
