I am thinking of getting a Dell but I don't want to find that it uses
a Dell proprietary motherboard that may have little technical data
available.

Vendor suggestion for wi-fi? by
al
Been having a look round for a wi-fi PCMCIA card. Cisco's Aironet's seem to
be quite a bit more expensive (nothing new there then!), but as far as I can
see Prism2 based cards are the only other sensible option for compatibility
with many wireless apps. Most of the brands I've found with Prism2...

Custom bulit6 Quiet PC? by
MattB
Hi there,
I've spent the last few months doing all the research and drawing up a
full spec list for my summer project of building an ultra-quiet 64-bit
custom PC. Only problem now is that I have a new job, truck-loads of
work and no spare time to do the build until the Autumn.
Does anyone know...

I'm having major problems with wrongly delivered items from dabs.
Does Dave still post here (he did a couple of years a go)?
Anyone got a phone number for them?

prebuilt systems with sonata case? by
SpookyTwin
I am looking for a quiet PC, so I want a Sonata case.
I also want a nice AMD64 motherboard from asus/abit/etc, and an
AMD64/3000 CPU.
I have most of the other bits and pieces already, so I could build my
own, but I would rather spend money to save time and hassle.
Does anyone sell/or will anyone...

Star Computer Services Ltd - Spam? by
Niel Humphreys
I seem to have somehow 'opted in' to their email database, has anyone else
received a spam email from them recently or know anything about this lot?
They are obviously unaware that spamming is illegal in the UK which says a
lot for their professional conduct and industry awareness.

Turnaround time for RMA by

Three weeks ago I returned a defective DVD burner to Novatech. So far
nothing has happened. I check the returns section on their website daily -
all it says is 'Goods Recieved from Customer'. Does anyone know how long I
should wait before starting to 'pester' them? As I understand...
