200 GB IDE hard disk read as 128GB by
Tian
I have recently purchased a Maxtor 200 GB size IDE (ATA133) with an
external hard disk enclosure, and attach it to a notebook via fire
wire (IEEE1394) connection. To overcome the capacity barriers, I have
enabled 48-bit LBA by installing SP1 and "Maxtor Big Drive Enabler" in
my Win XP. However,...

200gb Maxtor Hard Drive Corrupted? by
Chris Bales
My 200gb Hard Drive has been acting up lately and anytime I even
access files on it through explorer, it freezes up my computer. I was
told that my harddisk may be corrupted, but I do not know what to do
about it. If at all humanly possible, I'd like to retrieve the data
on that hard drive...

Hello,
This is a long shot -- but I'm looking for people working in the area
of GRAPHICS SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT who may face the same problem I'm
having in terms of finding a good 21" CRT monitor that meets the
contrary needs of this work. The monitor must have rich, bright color

24-pin Power Supplies: What's going on? by
aether
Why aren't retailers specifying whether the power supply is 24-pin or
not? Check out newegg.com; there's no way to tell. I've gone to
multiple online stores, and they simply don't list it. I'd like to find
a list of which power supplies are ATX 2.0 (24-pin). As of now, I can
only guess, or attempt...

25 GHz machine by
Clifford535
I have some computationally intense work to do, and I would like to
know where I could buy a computer that would run at the equivalent of,
say, 25 GHz. It would have to be already built since I don't have the
skills to build one from scratch. I would want to run an app that is
designed for a...

I'm thinking of buying the following from Tiny (for £899)
Pentium 4 3.0GHz HT Processor
1024MB DDR RAM

1) Any issues with any of the hardware - how is the graphics card rated

Hi
I recently bought a used LCD from ebay. Its a Samsung 531TFT. The LCD
has a weird display connector "26 pin MDR connector (Monitor) to 15
pin D/-sub (PC)".
Could anyone tell me as to what it is and where can I buy a cable for
it.
Any help is appreciated.

2GB Harddrive Recognition Limit by
Aaron
I'm messing around with an old Pentium II 233Mhz PC, and put a Seagate
Barracuda 20GB harddrive in it. The problem is, it will only
recognize 2 GB of it. I read in another post that this could be the
result of having a FAT16 file system vs. FAT32, but I'm pretty sure
it's FAT32. Am I wrong, or...

3.5" Floppy Disk Drive Question by
Scott H.
Hello,
I am looking for information on what the pins on a standard IDE 3.5" floppy
disk drive do. That is, I know that pin 20 is "Step Pulse", pin 22 is
"Write Data", pin 8 is "Index", etc., but I cannot find information on what
the pin's functions are. I need the information so I can build a...

300W PC Power Supply - AT vs. ATX form by
Fred Zimmerman
My local computer shop guy told me that I need a 300W AT form Power
supply for my AMD (Asus Mboard) mini-tower PC.
When I went to 2 or 3 websites selling PC power supplies, they all
list 300W supplies as ATX form.
What is the difference, and can I use an ATX instead of an AT form
supply.
Thanks.

32 or 64 bit - which? by
Paul
The general rule of thumb on any new technology seems to be, don't get
it until it's several years old. It'll be better, way cheaper, and
most of the bugs in the original design will have been worked out.
64-bit computing sounds exciting, but there's AFAIK only one OS for it
(Windows XP-64, and...

4 disks in 1U? by
Mark Johnson
There are a few 1U cases out there that take 4 hot swap drives, but 2
or 3 bays is a lot more common. Are 4 drives in 1U pushing it too far?
Not enough air flow etc? Anyone have experience or recomendations for
a 4disk 1U case? I'm thinking that it would make a great 2xRAID1
system.
thanks, Markj
