Gateway 500 S desktop XP SP2 upgrade. Can anyone verify? by
S.Lewis
Has anyone successfully upgraded either of the following models to XP Home
SP2? The first link (photo for case ID purposes only, btw) shows a 500S
desktop similar to (2) units that both crashed upon first reboot after an
attempted XP2 upgrade. I ultimately suspected BIOS flash, but did not...

Harddrive for Gateway Profile by
Terry
Hi,
A friend of mine has a fairly old Gateway Profile machine. It
doesn't say whether it's Profile I or II. I wonder what kind of hard
drive this machine uses. Is it just generic hard drive or laptop
hard drive? My friend wants to change to a bigger hard drive.
Thanks in advance for your...

MX7118 Notebook crashes with memory error by
Old_Timer
I recently bought a MX7118 notebook and am having intermittent blue-screen-of-death crashes. The screen flashes too quickly to
read the entire error message, but the log file indicates what happened. The crash is always memory related and happens when programs
like WinRAR are running on archives...

reinstall Windows ME? by
Al Knowles
Help! I've made a mess.
I have a Gateway 2000 which came with Windows ME. Three months ago, I used
Partition Magic to create a separate partition so I could switch seamlessly
between Windows ME
and Windows 2000. This was all working great until this
morning.
This morning some dll failed...

IE and Win95 by
Scott
I have Paint Shop Pro on my Win95a system...200 MHz Pentium
with 96 mb RAM. I went to install Paint Shop Pro 8, but it requires
IE 5 or above (+ Win98) to install it. Do I want to put IE 5 or 6
on a Win95 machine? I suspect it would slow it down.
Thanks!
Scott.

Repair Gateway LCD Monitor by
JE
Anyone ever changed the backlight on a lcd monitor or how do you check to
see if that is the problem? My monitor just "snapped" and went out. Not
sure if it is the lamp, but thought I would check it out if there is some
way to do it.
Thanks

Enabling Solo 1100 Hibernate Mode by

Does anyone know how to enable Hibernate mode on a Gateway Solo 1100?
I bought my Solo 1100 used. It had a wiped hard drive and no system
restore disks or anything. I reloaded the OS using a generic OEM
Windows 98SE CD. When I go to the Control Panel's Power Management
application, though,...

Hey people,
I can get the Netgear wireless equipment for a good deal, but want to make
sure it's a good enough brand. I'd hate to end up having problems just to
save a buck or two.

Be able to have complete access to my DSL internet connection on my laptop

Wrong Gateway Laptop battery? by
BillW50
I have two original 6MSB Gateway laptop batteries rated at 11.1V 4800mAh.
Although I purchased another on online that is compatible with my laptops,
but it turns out to be a 8MSBG and rated at 14.4V 4800mAh.
Well I plugged it in and it charged okay. I also ran my laptop on battery
and that worked...
