solo 2150 cmos battery replacement by Yvonne
Hi, I am going to have to replace a dead cmos battery in a friends solo 2150 laptop. I have searched the net with no luck for disassembly instructions. I haven't got to see the laptop yet, but I would like to know what I am up against. Has anyone in this forum taken apart a 2150? Is it straight...

How to access the POST process on a new 4500D??? by [email protected]
Hi Folks; I'm trying to see the POST process during startup, but I can't figure out how to display it on a new Gateway 4500D. I have an expansion card that has a boot BIOS, and I'd like to be able to see that process (it's a RAID card). Any assistance would be appreciated. David

Destination DL-36 monitor flyback xformer source by Zelnak
Does anyone know where a flyback transformer (Sampo FEA-680) for a Destination 36" monitor can be found? I hate to think that I have a 200 pound door stop on my hands... Gateway does not stock parts for this monitor and neither does Princeton (the original manufacturer). This monitor is only 4...

polarity of power cord - gateway fpd1520 by zirath
We recently got a gateway fpd1520 (15" lcd flatscreen) monitor from ebay. It didn't have a power cord. It says it's a 12v dc 2.5a but it doesn't give the polarity. A person from gateway said he thought it wouldn't hurt the monitor if it got plugged in backwards but I'd rather not try it. Would...

pavilion F50 monitor power supply by zirath
We just got an hp pavilion F50 lcd monitor without a power adapter. (It's called a Tatung CLT-L50 but is supposed to be the same as the hp one). It has a round power socket with 4 holes and is a little larger than a ps/2 socket. The manual warns to not use anything but the original cord : ...

LG LP141X2 screen for Solo 9100 XL by Zontar
I have a 6 year old Solo 9100 XL which has a damaged screen. After opening the case I discovered the TFT LCD screen was manufactured by LG with a model number of LP141X2-B . I have found many sources which are selling new LG LP141X2 replacement screens. Are all LP141X2 screens interchangable? ...

Kerio vs Native xp sp2 firewall. by zZero
I recently upgraded from WIN98SE to Winxp home with sp2. It didn't care for my firewall (Kerio freebee), so I suspended it. Someone suggested that the native firewall didn't do a great job of keeping my system from sending out. Any comment?

Found this really neat computer shop by zZero
Used cd rom for $5. Needed a start switch and they found one. I said how much. He said $2. I took out a twenty, because all I had was a twenty and a one. He took the $1 and said, next time... This must be the place where Compaqs go to die. Bins of MB's for a dollar each. Probably are dicey, but...
