500 gb hard drives -cheap! by 4phun
Has anyone noticed that CompUSA has 500 GB drives for a reasonable price in today's paper? They say it is an exclusive. Why buy a 300 gb drive when you can make that a 500 GB upgrade for the same price?

I have a Compaq PC, winXP home, that runs very well. My problem is that when I connect up my external USB harddrives prior to boot-up, the OS will not load, and I get a "cannot load OS" message. After boot-up, I can plug in the hd's and the computer sees them and all is ok. I had this problem...

Question about sharing IDE cable (Master/Slave) by Mikey
Is it ok to have a hard drive and DVD burner sharing the secondary IDE cable? Should I put the burner as the master and the hard drive as the slave? I only plan to use the hard drive as storage.

Is My Monitor on the Way Out? by Si
I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930SB monitor and over the past couple of days I've noticed a sort of ghost line appears at the bottom of the screen. It moves up and down a bit and I noticed that, for a split second, the picture contracts a tiny bit and then returns to normal. I should point...

Building a PVR: Connection to coaxial Jack by Analabha Roy
Hi, I'm trying to build a PVR machine that I can watch/record TV with. I was thinking of using the Hauppauge PVR 150/250/350 card for a tv tuner. However, the tv-out ports in those and similar cards seems to be either of the composite type or S-Video type. Unfortunately, my TV only has a 75...

Can I rip XP from Dell's I386 directory? by [email protected]
I just got a new Dell 9100 system that came with XP Media Center OS. Few questions: 1. Can I Ghost the system image to another (home built) non-Dell system with similar CPU parameters. 2. I noticed that they included I386 binaries on the HDD. Can I somehow copy this to another PC and run XP setup...

Today, it takes 19 minutes to go from the "pci device listings" screen and the xp splash screen. (Before the "welcome" screen.) Usually this is the place where the "operating system not found" happens. Not today. I've tried Tune up 2006. Norton. Reg clean. All seem to fix problems, but not...
