Intel Motherboard around D915GV - no 1600x1200 ?? by arifi
Hello everyone. I have a PC built around the Intel D915GVWB motherboard, with 2GB RAM, 64MB reserved for Video. I am running on Windows XP Pro SP2. It seems that the on-board graphics does not support any physical resolution higher than 1280x1024. My monitor is capable of 1600x1200, I set the...

Suggestion for motherboard for multi year timeframe by mg
I work at a non-profit. In the early 80's, we accepted donations of computer equipment. What we ended up a hodge podge of computers. Maintenance was a nightmare. I finally convinced management that while it saved us money up front to accept donated equipment, the ongoing costs were killing us....

Do I need DDR2-1066 for the Core2 Duo 975X chipset?? by Nobody
Ok, so I'm reading the E6600 and the 975X chipset support the 1066mhz FSB. So does that mean I need the DDR2-1066 memory? I know I can put slower memory in there, but the DDR2-1066 memory will work the best right? (no overclocking).

Problem linking Intel Math Kernel Library by [email protected]
I'm not a particularly savy linux user, but I have managed to install Intel Fortran, C++, and MKL on my PC's linux partition (Ubuntu 6.0.6). Now I want to use the free Fortran package PROPACK to do singular value decompositions of large sparse matrices. Using the make file included with PROPACK...

D975XBX and Busy Mouse Pointer by Fidelis K
I recently built a D2C system based on the Bad Axe and my mouse pointer periodically turns into "hour glass," meaning that something's running. The new system has the same set of programs as my old system based on the D865 motherboard, and the mouse pointer doesn't turn into hour glass on the...

Regarding Intel945GTP motherboard by [email protected]
Hi, I have purchased Intel945GTP motherboard and Pentium D 2.8G processor. According to processor specifications, it has 2 MB L2 cache but surprisingly, the information displayed in the BIOS setup is only 1MB. I have heard similar behavior on one of my friend's pc with same configuration. Vendor...

Pressler D950 vs Conroe E6600 by Ron Krebs
Just briefly, besides the 1066 vs 800 FSB and the 4MB vs 2MB L2 cache, why would I go with the Conroe rather than the Pressler? Or are those two factors worth the extra $140? The D950 is 3.2GHz and the E6600 is 2.4. I'm not a multitasker per se, but I do occasional video/photo editing. I...

Hi, Does L1 "memory cache" cache virtual addresses or physical addresses? I.E is L1 cache located after the memory management unit (MMU) and the TLB or before? What about L2 cache? which relative location gives better performances? I am more interested on intel x86 processors. Another question...
