Network Backup Storage Device by
JimJ
We are using the Veritas Backupexec software for LAN tape backup. We would
like to perform backups to a network storage device. Can anyone recommend a
device for purchase or should we make our own storage device?

HD operating Temperature? by
jtsnow
I put a WD1200 7200rpm in a USB external case in a home office and I would
like to leave it on 24/7 to backup up 4 PCs over LAN. (If I have to remember
to turn it on each day, I wont get consistent backups)
The case has no fan but good space around it and vents for convection air
flow. Nothing sits...

reading an lto1 tape on an lto2 tape drive? by
[email protected]
Hi - I upgraded the tape drive an LTO1 (Overland) to an HP LTO2 tape
drive. I was told that I would be able to see the LTO1 tapes on the
drive.
I inserted the LTO1 tape and catologed it but the catalog failed.
Is there something I need to do? The tapes are 2 years old so they are
no longer on...

Expire savesets in Legato Networker... by
[email protected]
I am trying to figure out how to expire savesets in Legato networker.
I am reading the Admin guide and see that it says to change the
expiration of a saveset by using the -e option of the save command. I
look at the save command and see the options I think I need. The -e
with the date I want to...

HP's Persist or RISS experience? by
Keith Michaels
Does anyone have any experience using HP's PERSIST product
for lifecycle management? Is it incorporated into RISS?
I would like to compare it to other ILM products like AvalonIDM, etc.

Experiences with Cluster File Systems (ie. GFS) over a SAN by
David
(google news would not let me reply directly, so this will probably
appear as a new thread)
I've been looking at the possibility of putting some NFS servers "over" a
SAN, providing a "home grown" NAS. This would be one solution that'll meet
our NFS requirements, as we can use Linux (or...

Hi!
I have this strange issue...
My ASP page needs to list the content of specific Netapp folder; the
code is very simple:
set fso = createobject("scripting.filesystemobject")
set folder = fso.GetFolder("\\io\Projekte")
for each fldr in folder.subfolders
wscript.echo "li" & fldr.name

RAID 5 again - budget hardware solution by
Meurig Freeman
As a home user I am in need of a budget solution. As a RAID newbie I'm
in need of a little bit of advice.
The background - I need to get a lot of data onto a lot of drives as
quickly as possible, and it has to be done via 100Mbps ethernet. The
ethernet is my current bottleneck and I intend to...

Natalie
I've been researching NAS options for an office environment comprised
of about 15 users and a mix of desktop and server operating systems.
So far, I've looked at the following:
-Dell, IBM and HP offerings (an "appliance" solution based on a 64-bit
CPU, 2GB RAM, and Windows Storage Server 2003...
