Epson 1650 can't find B&W negatives (usually) by
Cad Lackey
When I'm scanning B&W 35mm negatives on my 1650, it typically can't find
the frames on the negative, especially if the background of the photo is
dark and it's hard to tell where one frame ends and the next begins. Is
there some way to manually select the area on the negative that I want it
to...

Question for Wayne Fulton. by
DoubleEntendre
Hello Wayne,
Although I only frequent this group once in a long while (unless I need
something) I would first of all like to thank you for you help &
instrumental guidance.
My question:
Have you ever worked with high speed (30+ pages) document scanners?

Epson 1200 u transparency scanning by
bmoag
I have not used this scanner for awhile. I found some old 120 negatives. I
have followed all the instructions. However the "target size" and the "lock
button" are grayed out in the driver box. When I try to get a preview only a
portion of the negative is scanned; at times the preview shows the...

Scanning 35mm Slides by
MATT WILLIAMS
In the past Costco has been able to scan my slides and make prints and
enlargements for a very reasonable cost about three dollars for a 12X18.
They have a new processing machine which has done a great job on my Digital
Enlargements and my own medium format scans that I do on my old Epson 2450.
The...

vuescan and clipping whites - any help graciously accepted. by
Figo
Hello group
Scanning noobie here looking for some help. I have waded through two
books but am still unclear on a few matters. Perhaps someone who is
familiar with vuescan could answer this best.
All of vuescan's colour defaults (manual, neutral, white point, etc)
come with a suggested white...

USB Scanner not recognized by
Farad Sunavala
Hi,
I have finally decided to ask for help.
I have a 8-month old sparingly used UMAX
Astra Net e3420 scanner connected to the USB
port of a IBM ThinkPad running Windows 2000.
Worked great all this time.
Suddenly, it is no longer recognized. Below is the output of...

FAST scanner by
iamaran
Hi.
Our organisation is attempting to become as paperless as possible. We have
a large amount of material to convert.
I know very little about this, using a simple flatbed at home.
Can anyone recommend some good, fast equipment (and software?).
TIA.

Negative scanning with Epson Perfection 3170 by
fred621
I would appreciate any suggestions for settings for scanning negatives
on the 3170. I'll be doing some retouching and if I print it will
usually be 4x6.
Thanks for any advice

cropping on Nikon LS50 (V ED) by
Nigel Burnett
Hi, I've heard that Nikon LS50 does not scan 100% of the slide. Can
someone please elaborate? How much is missing? Even a single mm would
be unacceptable as I want to scan some scratched slides, repair them
with s/w, and create files for my lab to burn new film.

Help scanning Negs, Nikon Coolscan IV ED by
Ara Kotchian
I'm having a strange problem with scanning B&W negatives on the Nikon
coolscan IV ED. Scanning slides and color negs works just fine, great
actually, but for some reason B&W negs are coming out very very dark. I
can barely see the image. I've tried adjusting using curves and the analog
gain, I...

Microtek scanner made my PC unusable. by
Robert Clark
I had a Microtek Slimscan C3 scanner that used to be attached to a
Windows 98 system. I wanted to connect it to a Windows 2000 system. I
asked Microtek about some cable connection issues (USB vs. parallel).
Unfortunately, I forgot to mention that I was moving it from a Windows
98 machine to a...

Scanhancer any good? Canon FS4000US by
John
Anyone used scanhancer and is it any good? I have a Canon FS4000US but when
enlarging my scans of negs and slides they always look grainy (at 4000dpi).
I also wondered about the merits of using Vuescan or Silverfast instead of
Filmget. Any advice or tips appreciated. I want to get the most detail...

RICOH IS420 Is anyone experenced in using this unit? by
DoubleEntendre
I used this scanner to record over 300,000 pages (maybe more). Sad thing is
I never learned how to set it up (I just worked for a company without access
to this criteria.
I managed to buy one off of EBay, it came with an ISA Minolta SCSI card and
a cable (a lot longer then the "3 Foot rule") with...

Comments on CanoScan 5200F by
i dot hodge at tiscali dot co dot uk
I have done a quick google search and cannot find any reviews for this
scanner, so I wondered if anyone had taken the plunge and couple pass on
their comments? I mainly want to replace an old flatbed scanner for
scanning if prints I make at home, but would be interested in scanning
the negs and...
