1440x900 on 19" wide by Chris[_3_]
Dell has a good price on a vostro 200 slim with analog widescreen. I've been using a crt 17" at 1024x768. I'm concerned the resolution is so high that it'll be hard to read the text. What experience have people had with the E198WFP monitor ? Thanks, Chris

15" or 12" laptop? by [email protected]
I'm in need of a new PC. I've never owned a laptop before I really don't "need" a laptop per se as I'm not a business traveler But I want a laptop cause I "might" need to take it with me and also cause its less clutter in my life. I'm going to be a 47 yr old college student soon.

15% off coupon for Dell Outlet Studio laptops by RnR[_2_]
If anyone needs a coupon for one of these, I got one by email to spare. It says 15% off. First come basis and just email me. I'm not charging for it but I don't want to indiscriminately post the coupon code here because Dell may not like this if they view it here and the coupon says for it can...

15% Restocking Fee on Returned Systems by Alan S. Wales
I noticed that the Dell "Total Satisfaction" return policy includes a 15% restocking fee on any returns. Thus, if the buyer is unsatisfied and wants to return the system for their money back they must pay shipping charges and have 15% deducted from their refund. Is this a new policy? I don't...

15.4 screen by geo
i wanted to get a Inspiron 2200 notebook with a 15'' screen, but they don't make that one any longer, now it's the B130 with the 15.4 screen. Are there any opinions on the difference in the two screens. I wonder if the 15.4 is going to be tough to get used to, meaning a little wider and, I don't...

15.4-inch laptop -- WXSGA or WUXGA? by Bud H
15.4-inch laptop -- WXSGA or WUXGA? I'm about to order a new Latitude D820 with 15.4 inch Wide Screen LCD Panel (either WXSGA+ or WUXGA) and 512MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 120M TurboCache graphics card. I'm trying to decide between WXSGA+ and WUXGA. Is there any reason, assuming cost isn't a factor,...

1505 AMD? by Kevin M
I was starting to order a 1505 after I finally found out the difference between the 6400 and the 1505, but I noticed the 1505 is using AMD processors. How do these compare to Intel processors? Should I be concerned? Thanks again-- Kevin M.

1505 gripe by Ed Chait
I purchased a 1505 about a month ago and am extremely happy with it except for one thing. The hard drive activity light (led) is so tiny and dim that I can't even see it unless I shade it with my hand and it's hard even then. Other laptops I have used have had disk activity lights which were...

1505 laptop - Vista Home Premium - CHKDSK C: /F won't run by Ray S[_2_]
When I run error checking from properties-Tools on C: the normal dialog does not appear and it clearly does not scan the whole disk. When I run chkdsk from a command prompt in read only mode the dialog is much clearer and it completes 73231 of 97424 files. "Attribute record (128, "") from file...

1505 or 6400? by Kevin M
Maybe a dumb question, but what is the difference between the Inspiron 1505 and the 6400? Thanks Kevin M.

1505/6400 laptop by Kevin M.
Hi all, I'm thinking of treating myself to a new Inspiron 1505/6400. I would like to move to a Core Duo processor. On the options, the T7200 processor upgrade is an expensive one. Is that upgrade worth it? I may have to set my sights a bit lower. Thanks

1521 ship delay by Jim C
Dell contacted me today with the wonderful news my laptop will not ship until 8/28. I order a vanilla configuration on 7/19. The reason they gave me "it's backorder". What? Looks like this billion dollar company needs a new inventory management system.

1525n W/Ubuntu Won't Load XP by Bob Villa
The XP install will load the necessary drivers and then there is a message about viruses and it won't continue. Disregarding the fact that Linux believes Windows is a virus...is there a way to re-format and install XP? Is there a Linux command that will format? (Any boot disk I have that can format...

15WU+ laptop screen by Ron Hardin
A scratch and dent E6500 somebody got came with a 15WU+ screen. Whatever its resolution, things are too small to read with your glasses on. Nearsighted people like me can remove glasses and bend close to the screen. On the other hand, you can fit a lot of those tiny things on the screen at...

160 GB Drive by Art N
I have a Dell 2350. I am thinking about replacing my drive with a 160 GB Western Digital. Does anybody know what the largest drive the BIOS can support? Can I go up to a 250 GB? Will I have any issues with the 160 GB? Will I need to use the manufacturer's "BIOS helper" software...

160 GB HD problem? by Colin Caulkins
Someone here mentioned a while back that Dells have a problem with 160 GB hard drives. What is the problem, exactly? I recently purchased a Dimension 8300 with a 160 GB hard drive. No problems yet, but the hard drive isn't very full, either. Strangely, when I run Western Digital's Data...

1600 x 900 resolution on Optiplex GX520 w/onboard Intel G45 by Bruce Morgen
New to this forum and never had a problem with our various Dells until this one -- here's the issue: Is there any way to get 1600 x 900 with the onboard Intel video of this model? Intel claims to have a driver that can do this, but it won't install, claims the system requirements weren't met even
