Mouse Glide Glue by Grinder
I've got an old Apple ADB mouse whose semicircular rear glide has come loose. http://www.gordogato.com/pics/apple/zm_adbkb_mouse_apple_4.jpg Superglue would probably work to reattach it, but is there something I can use that will be more forgiving if I ever want to replace the glides?

2/3 of New HD Missing? by RF[_5_]
Hi Experts :-) I bought a new 400GB HD a few days ago. I added it to my older computer to format it and it went fine. After that I set up about 1/3 of it in one partition and left the remainder empty. Next I moved it to my newer computer and started the win2k installation via the CDR. Things went...

Can I use an optical mouse (PS2 port) on a Win98 SE computer? by tasTDasd
I need to change the mouse on a Win98 SE personal computer. I have to use the PS2 port. Nowadays, optical mice are pretty common. Can I use an optical mouse on that Win98 SE pc? If I can, do I need to download a driver (from Microsoft or manufacture) for the optical mouse?

When does an HDD replace bad sectors? by pimpom
I understand that a modern HDD has many spare sectors which it automatically substitues for bad sectors until it runs out of spares, and that a bad sector showing up in the OS is a sign that the drive has aged too much to be reliable. But when does the substitution take place? I expect that,...

How would I go about interfacing my computer to the outside world? I'm wondering if there's a way I can log the date/time when my USPS mailbox gets opened. Which eventually translates to I have a wire with a hi/low voltage for the mailbox is open/closed -- how do I connect that wire to the...

1TB hard drive on PATA machine by Peter Chant[_2_]
Any thoughts? Existing system is PATA only, PCI & AGP, no PCI-E. PATA drives seem rare and relatively expensive for the amount of storage you get and at maximum seem to be 500GB. If I want to upgrade this machine to 1TB the only feasible way looks like external firewire drive plus firewire card....
