Best Motherboard for Athlon XP + PC133 SDRAM by Brad
Biostar M7VIW or similar model, based on KT266A. Accepts both PC133 and PC2100, so you can upgrade RAM when you are ready. Super stable board, supports Athlon XP of course, overclockable by adjusting FSB in BIOS. Very affordable -- great buy I'd say. "dnldr" wrote in...

Motherboard and CPU recommendations - UK by Paul Greer
http://www.microdirect.co.uk is a cheap online place. I've never had any problems with returns but I live near their real-world store(Manchester) so I've always gone to the physical returns counter and spoken to a human being. I dunno how the online service would differ. £195 will get you an Asus...

Athlon cooling fan by Paul Greer
You can get fans all over. PCWorld might stock them. I know Maplins do. If you can't find a 60x60x10, I find that an 80x80x25 fan and a small amount of duck tape does the trick :-) "PJ" wrote in message ... Anyone know of a UK...

Opinion required by Doug Whitesell
I need an opinion. I am currently in the process of speccing an (almost)-entirely new machine: Asus A7N8X GeForce FX 5200 (64mb RAM) 1 gig DDR (PC3200) I have drives already and a case on the way. What I would like is an honest opinion: should I just buy a Barton 2800+ (which I can afford...

AMD MP heatsinks & fans by Blaedmon
I have a dual AMD Tyan system - and I reckon the chips and especially the northbridge chipset could be cooler. Unfortunately my case is pretty average for air circulation - its design allows only 2 fans. What fan/heatsink combos are excellent for Amd MP's and chipsets? Thanks.

Hi All, I just put together an old AMD Athlon 1 Gig chip with a stick of 256DDR ram, an old WDC HDD, a new case, and a new Gigabyte GA-7VKMP mobo. After about an hour's worth of computing, (installing win2K, service packs, browsing, etc) I was setting up a Win2K/RH7.1 dualboot, when I restarted...
