Hi
I got a system with dual Athlon MP 2800+ CPUs, under Win XP Pro, and during
boot the BIOS says that the system has "Unknown CPU type", but does give the

Is this normal?

64 bit slower? by
Stacey
http://www.anandtech.com/guides/viewfaq.html?i=112
Unless this is way off the mark, what advantage is a 64bit chip going to
have for desktop performance? I can see where a server/database/large
number crunching with a bunch of ram it would be great but for typical
desktop use it doesn't seem like...

3DNow!+ vs SSE on Athlon XP by
Larry Lewis
The Athlon XP supports SSE, but is coding to SSE as efficient as
coding to 3DNow?
Among other things, it seems you might be able to take advantage of
the extra floating point registers supported by 3dnow (the floating
point clones of the mmx registers) as well as the SSE registers to
hold more...

Has AMD stopped publishing recommended PS's? by
Yousuf Khan
I went to the AMD website looking for the recommended power supply
list, and it looks like AMD just publishes links to the manufacturer's
websites now. Doesn't look like it's doing the PS lab testing anymore.
Anyone know anything about this?

I have a 440BX with Win XP Pro on it, and I've never seen the type of errors
you are talking about.
If you get a brand new drive, make sure you use it as your main drive
because it's going to be way faster than your old drive. Use Norton Ghost's
DiskToDisk option to make a clone copy of the old...
