UPS Question by Buck Turgidson
We're getting a hurricane through here. It is probably too late to buy a UPS, but I am curious if a moderately priced UPS could power a laptop, cable modem, and router for any period of time, or would I need a generator? Thanks!

Does hard drive quality differ with warranty offered? by Ace Pope
I am considering purchasing a laptop hard drive with a one year warranty in Thailand. The dealers here also sell what I think is the same hard drive (Hitachi) with a three year warranty. I'm wondering whether there might be a difference in quality between the drives based on their warranty length....

Computer Powers Down - But does not Power Off by Greg Glynn
Has anyone seen this before? My computer (running WinXP) goes through the shutdown cycle but will not self-power off ... it comes up with the "Now Safe to Power Down" message. Not big deal really. However, when it was running Windows ME (when I bought it 2 years ago) it *would* power-off...

HP Pavilion 7920 by @drian
Does anyone know if the hard-drive in the Pavilion 7920 is easily upgradeable? I wish to upgrade the HDD to something larger, say an 80GB. I checked HP's site and all it said, was it's a 3.5" unit. Thanks. @drian.

New Hard Drive: 2MB cache vs. 8MB Cache by Purp1e
I'm looking into getting a new drive. Is their a real advantage in getting a drive with 8MB cache rather than 2MB cache? I recently had a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB drive with 8MB cache, which I found dealt with intense operations very quickly but would take a long time to open folders on the...

Monitor off. No screensaver. Graphics Card... by -
If the monitor is switched off and there is no screensaver working, am I correct in thinking that the graphics card is still generating roughly the same image over and over again, despite it not being displayed by the monitor, and therefore subjecting it to gradual damage in the same sense that a...
