Microsoft's working on it. As a short-term fix, Microsoft says
you can uninstall the update.
If you've recently noticed that games are not performing as well
as they once were, and neither is...

AMD Turion 64 and Windows 7 by
Xavi
Hi!
I'm the owner of a notebook Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A1667EX with a AMD
Turion 64 Mobile Technology ML-37 processor.
After several tries and a BIOS upgrade, I've installed Windows 7 on
that machine, it works pretty well, but I have a problem with the
processor.
According to Windows Upgrade...

The end of the road for the DIY PC? by
Yousuf Khan[_2_]
Intel has announced that they will stop making replaceable CPU's after
Haswell. From now on, all CPU's are supposed to be in BGA packaging,
which means you can only attach CPU's to the motherboard by soldiering
them on. You won't be seeing these in any home DIY's toolkit, so it's
the end of the...

same. One thing I am not sure of is, where is the L2 cache? On my HP

Sabertooth and a AMD 8350 speed issues by
Vince Coen[_2_]
Hello All!
Having set up above system I am noticing that loads get very high according
to top/htop but the load is NOT spread between all the cores (it is an 8
core) with 16Gb (1600) Corsait Vengeance Pro Ram.
Is there a setting or two that is not correct in the UEFI bios or in the
Mageia v3 set...

x64 and optical drives by

Is there a setting in windows Xp x64 that chooses to turn off the
optical drives at any time??
I can boot my PC and have the use of the optical drives (CD, and DVD)
but if I go away from the PC and return later, (usually after the PC has
shut down the monitor (timed out)) the opticals might still...

FX-4300 FX-6300 FX-8320 Speed Differences by
Damaeus[_3_]
I'm curious about why there's the AMD FX-8320 Vishera with an Eight-Core
running 3.5 GHZ ($180), while there's also the AMD FX-4300 Vishera with a
Quad-Core running 3.8 GHz. Why is the Quad-Core rated at a higher clock
speed than the more expensive Eight-Core, not to mention the Six-Core
FX-6300,...

Hello:
About 6 years ago, I went shopping around for a computer, and (as I've done
before) I found the computer I wanted. Then went home, got online to
tigerdirect.com and picked out all the same parts that were on the computer
in the store that I liked, and it wound up costing me 1/2 of what...

I take it all back! HIS rocks! by

Okay, okay, a while back I posted here about how I was having problems with my 2nd HIS video card. Well, now there's some redemption. I initiated an RMA, and I have to admit it was straightforward, and they were very courteous. After five weeks, they shipped me a 6970 in a brand new box. Sold...

Hey everyone. Just thought I'd share my recent personal experience and, heck, vent a little bit.
Used to be mostly an Nvidia guy. Switched over to AMD/ATI in early 2010 with the purchase of a Radeon 5870 by HIS. Was pretty happy with it, although I made the mistake of pairing an AMD card with a...

x86 or PowerPC for network processing by

Hello,
I'm not sure that I'm posting to the right group - sorry if I'm wrong.
We need to choose hardware platform for our network processing
appliance (common 1-2U server, not an embedded device). Currently
we're going to use only base hardware, without specific hardware like
NPU or FPGA. I have...

Using the AMD Overdrive utility by

I just picked up a Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition. Now that this

able to pick this one up fairly cheaply. What used to be a $300+ chip, I
got now for less than $200! It drops in and replaces my previous Phenom
