Mason A. Clark
What's the difference between "Audio CD" and
just plain "CD" blanks? Is it only a marketing ploy?

"Audio CD's", you bother to buy those? by
jdc_tech
Hi all, not a regular but i'm going to propose a situation for
chat/talk, etc. First off, we all see at best buy the 'audio' blank
cdr's that are basicly the computer cdr's with a different package
label. For the audio-files, we're just talking here that in basic,
they're the same cd's. As in if...

"broken record" a known CD problem?? by
Mason A. Clark
I have a CD that repeats -- like a vinyl that's
stuck in one grove. Happens after 15 minutes of
good playing on a 25 minute recording.
Is this a known problem?
I ask because I don't know the cause: my
CD brand (Memorex 52x) or *Nero* or just bad luck??
Only seen it once -- on the last CD I...

"calibration area full" CDRW = useless? by
Chan WK
I have a CDRW which triggers the "calibration area full" error in Nero
5 consistently, even after a "full format".
Obviously all burning attempts also failed (cannot perform end track).
The drive is a brand new Gigabyte GO0404 DVD burner, while the CDRW is
a relatively new Verbatim 24X...

"Check CD" for Audio CDs? by
JamesDad
When burning data CD's, I have a wealth of utilities available to verify
that the resulting CD is good, not the least of which is "Check CD".
But I know of no way to verify that an audio CD copy is good other than to
listen through it and listen for distortion. A couple of days ago, I used
a...

"Closing out a CD"-How? by
[email protected]
HI group.
I have been using InCD to copy some favorites and memos to a CD-RW from
my PC, to take with me to a friends PC, but it will not work! Her PC
freezes up in My Computer screen.
Reading here, I think that it may be(?) that I did not "close out the
CD"- I don't know how you do that.
Any help...

"codec" for Samsung CD-R/RW DVD drive by
Franklin Wright
I installed a Samsung SM-352B combo drive on my Dell
XPS-R450, and it reads CDs fine. I haven't installed any
other software, but I assume it writes CDs OK, too. But...
when I try to run a DVD, an error message pops up that
says something about no compatible DVD codec. Is this
"DVD codec" a...

"Linked" multisession disks vs. normal multisession disks by
Julia
I read that there are two different kinds of multisession disks. There's the
normal kind where each time you write a new session it wastes a little space
in order to close and start the session. Then there's another kind where it
"links" the old session in so that it doesn't waste space. Is it true...

"Liquid Video" media any good? by
Minnie Bannister
Are the "Liquid Video" (Circuit City store brand?) media any good? I am
having a terrible time trying to burn DVD+R disks even at 1x; Verbatim
and Memorex DVD+RW disks are working fine.

"Pro Media" DVD+RW 4X Media? Any experiences? by
Utter Newbie
Just wondering if anyone has tried "Pro Media" DVD+RW 4X Media?
GDQ-47GK-2502? I'm thinking of getting some because they are cheap at
Tiger Direct (cheapest media I can find in Canada) but I'm worried
they are cheap for a reason? Thanks for any info...
I'm also looking to get a new DVD burner and...

"Successful Burn" isn't really successful by
Joe Emenaker
Okay, this one has me baffled.
For the past couple of months, I haven't been able to make working CDs
with Nero 6, Roxio 6, etc. They seem to burn, but they don't work
afterward. The scenario seems to go like this:
I'll make a new CD image and drag some files into it (or I'll burn
straight from a...

"Under-Burning" to CD. Is this necessary? by
Mike O'Sullivan
A reply to a readers query in the "Boot Camp" section of Tuesday's Daily
Telegraph suggested that it might be best NOT to fill up a CD-R to its'
limit as the reliability of the recording medium is not always uniform and
does tend to tail off towards the outer rim of the disc, and that if...

"VCD or DVD authoring program that supports WMV files ??? by

After getting some great help on this site, I bought the program --Plus!

show, with music, etc.. It looked pretty darn good for my first effort, I
thought.
With the PPS(2) program, I was able to burn my first Video CD that...
