What have I done wrong? I've a proliant 5500 that seems to be a happy bunny, running SBS2k, twin CPU, plenty of RAM etc, and a Compaq RIB 56k part 294040-001. Becouse of the full length of the RIB, and with a 'handle' on the end, there is only one PCI slot it'll go in, BUT the smart start utility...

I've just acquired an old 1600R which had been working (all except for a noisy cooling fan) but had been pulled and stripped for parts. I've just dropped in two VRMs and a matched pair of Pentium II 400MHz processors and a stick of 256Mb PC100 ECC RAM. The machine boots up and acknowledges the...

256Mb EDO DIMMs - Are they faster than lower capacity ones? by Jason Arthurs
My ever expanding Proliant 3000 now has a gig of memory (still running Memtest86 on it) and the transfer rate is about 7Mb/sec faster than the motley selection of 32Mb DIMMs I had in it before. Are the 256Mb DIMMs faster? I'm assuming that if I mix any of the old RAM back in the transfer speed...

6400R questions by alewis
Hi New here, but looks like a good forum :-) Just acquired a 6400R server, fitted with 2 x PIII Xeon 500 2mb CPUs. What is the max CPU speed this server will take? I'm wondering if ROM upgrade (or unspecified DIP settings) will allow better than the 5.5x100 - specifically I'm looking for 7x100...

800 Motherboard in 2500 Tower by Jeffrey Alsip
I have been considering the possibility of dropping the motherboard from a Proliant 800 into an empty Proliant 2500 tower case. It looks like everything will fit just fine. Does anybody see any potential problems with this?
