Hot C drive by
DP
Does anyone know if dual-core chips (in my case an AMD) or Windows XP x64 or
both tend to cause the main drive (C:) to run hot?
I have a Western Digital SATA drive which I can easily get above 55 degrees
C, according to the HD Tune utility. The utility's web site also says drives
shouldn't be...

How to set clock multiplier on FX-55 by
C. Sowash
I have an FX-55 CPU, and I'd like to try boosting the CPU clock multiplier.
Using the CoreCenter control that came with my MSI motherboard, I can set the
FSB clock speed, but there is no way to set the CPU clock multiplier.
How can I adjust the CPU multiplier?

ATI 64-bit driver on eMachines M6805 by
Frank
The original Beta 1 of ATI's 64-bit drivers for Win XP64 would install and
run on my M6805 with the Mobility 9600 chip. Subsequent betas of the 64-bit
driver will not install and say they don't recognize the video chip. Google
seems to indcate that there is some way to edit the .inf file(s) to get...

Strange 5v rail by
Wad
Hi,
Strange +5v rail readout using both mbm5 and speedfan. Both show a
fluctuation between 2.17 and 5.41 v. I have tested the psu using a
multimeter and everything is good. So I can only assume the mainboard
is giving false readings or there is a problem with the mainboard. The
funny thing is...

new optical drives still ata33 by
VanShania
I did some research on optical drive transfer rates and the majority of the
new optical drives are still ATA33 standard, including Plextor 740 and Nec
3550. The only dual-layer burners that are ATA66 standard are the Pionner
DVR-110D and the LiteOn SOHW-1693S. LG also has an ATA66 drive but it...

Got a question by
Dale Brisket
Why the hell would I want my next rig to be built around a single core based
CPU? Is not the handwriting on the wall for this issue? Am I wrong, or in
the not-to-distant future will be posting nostalgic threads about those
archaic days when a single core handled all our onerous tasks? And...
