New AM2 LE1600 cpu performance? by Strutter
Hey does anyone have one of these yet? I'm interested in how they perform and how good they are for over clocking, cos if they're any good I wouldn't mind using them in a couple of low budget pc's. So far I can't find any benchmarks...

8RDA+ won't POST by [email protected]
I've got an 8RDA+ system that was running fine early today. (It is not overclocked, but I'm thinking overclockers may have some insights too, hence the cross post.) It was left on while people left the room. When they came back a few hours later it was dead. Now it won't even POST. History: ~3...

Setting CPU Speed (Asus A7V133) by That Other Guy
A7V133 BIOS REV 1009, Athlon Thunderbird 1.33 GHz I swapped the original 900 MHz Duron with what was supposed to be a 1.33 GHz Athlon Thunderbird. When I ran the computer the processor showed up as a 1000 MHz Athlon. The board is configured to be jumperless.

About CPU temperature monitoring by Kelakhai
Hello, Newbie here. I've been told that having to much temperature in the CPU could be very bad. I've also been told that between 45-50° was good T°. Well, BIOS monitoring shows my CPU at 51-52°C.

Replying to SPAM in the group and AMD's FSB by J. Codling
Why do people reply to SPAM in the group? Most of us do not even see it in the first place until some idiot who thinks he is an anti-spam crusader replies to it to say they were report for abuse and/or some comment on how they are not that stupid. So, the next time you feel the urge to reply to a...

AMD Processors - HELP! by Sseaott
I have not dumped the idea of getting AMD in my notebook just yet because I'm still confused about all the processors they make. You know one of the systems I am interested in is the Compaq Presario 3000 series line. One of those lines in the 3000Z which features the processor from AMD. OK, go...

Anybody built any boxes with 8 or 16 GBs of RAM by Pete Harrington
Hi: I have an Opty running at 2.8 GHz with 4 GBs of dual channel RAM. I saw some boards like Gigabyte and Epox support up to 16 GBs of RAM. However, finding a stick of 4 GB of DDR2 seems to be a bit difficult. I was curious to see if anybody has exceeded 4 GBs on their systems and has any...

fx55 O/Cing by Robin Gordon
I had an Opteron 144 overclocked to 2.5GHz (4x DDR sticks, 2.6GHz with 2 sticks) so I checked out a few upgrade options to improve my 939 system. The Opteron was so easy once I figured out how to manipulate the Gigabyte Triton K8N - SLi mobo. Some software suggested that my HD2900XT would be...

Best Heatsink for an Athlon XP 3200 by Steve
What's the best heatsink for an Athlon XP 3200. Not looking to spend a fortune but my idle temps of around 55 degrees C are a little on the high side and I'd like to bring em down a bit. Thanks, Steve

Mobile Barton vs. regular Barton: any advantages? by Wblane
Does the mobile barton have any performance enhancements over the regular bartons --aside from lower power consumption? What I mean by this is that at the same clock speed is a Mobile Barton any faster than a regular Barton? AMD doesn't seem to have any data sheets on the mobile bartons that I can...

Problems w/ a Dual Core 6400+ ??? by Sniper[_2_]

Athlon XP 2400+ Asus A7V333 help please by Chogaire
Hi all, I'm very confused as to which Athlon XP 2400+ my Asus A7V333 (PCB rev 1.1) can handle. Looking at the Asus site, I can only have the (Model 8?) Thoroughbred, as the Thornton is for the PCB rev 2.0 version A7V333 only. But I heard whisperings that it *could* actually take the Thornton but...

Don't get me wrong, been using Athlons forever.....I love them....here is my issue: I just started messing around with Pinnacle Studio 8 to create some DVDs from old VHS tapes as well as some AVI's and MPGs. It takes **forever** to render the DVD. I have heard that P4s are better at this than...

Testing processor performance by [email protected]
I have been trying to test cpu performance using Nbench and have found that I get better results running XP on VMWare system using a quad core than I do on an XP system running a dual core AM2 5200+ or 5000+ . I clocked the same system with the two different processors and was only able to obtain...
