9800pro Cat 7.8 by
?uzzled
Is anybody running a 9800pro with Cats newer than 7.8 ? When the 7.9 came
out I tried them but it kept failing the Direct3D test in dxdiag so had to
roll back. I tried 7.11 tonight and they still fail the D3D test.
I have a sapphire 128MB 9800pro. Is the 7.8 Cat the limit for these cards ?

Latest drivers for 9800pro by
?uzzled
I have a 128MB Sapphire 9800pro. I've been using the cat 3.7 for years now.
Although its stable, the performance is lacking for newer games.
Today I tried the Omega 6.5 drivers. Benching Doom3 I gained an extra 9fps
and 3dmark03 I gained 300 points. However I found the text in Windows not as
sharp...

Video freeze by
@drian
The video display (actually, Windows XP) just froze on my system. I was
composing an e-mail at the time, doing nothing graphics intensive. It froze
for 20 seconds and came back in 640x480 mode, telling me:
"Microsoft Windows detected and recovered from a device failure. Please

ATI 9700 Pro to 9800 Pro? by
@drian
Has anyone sold their 9700 Pro to upgrade to a 9800 Pro? I was
considering upgrading to a 9800 Pro so I don't have to upgrade early
next year. Only problem is, from the articles I read, the performance
doesn't seem that much of an improvement over the 9700 Pro card.
Second hand, I'd probably get...

Heat issue 8500DV by
@drian
Is the 8500DV the one with the TV tuner? If so, from what I remember,
that TV tuner is the culprit of heat. The TV tuner on that model is
digital and heats up so bad, it can't be touched with a finger.

GF4 Ti4400 to Radeon 9600 Pro by
@lias
Hi all
I have been wondering whether or not it is worth going from a GF4 Ti4400 to a
Radeon 9600 Pro. I have read lots of reviews and they generally have the same
results. That is, with no AA or AF, the GF4 would be ahead in most cases.
However once turned on, the 9600 Pro leaps ahead. Another...

@ndrew
Are you putting the card on it's own power source ... ie nothing else
hanging off it.
Do you have enough power to do the job:

Cat 4.4 have broken my 9600XT by
@ndrew
Interesting when I installed the Cat 4.4s on my 9800 Pro no problems
.... they bench a little slower than the 4.2 or 4.3s but they are solid.
Installed the new drivers on my second machine with a 9600XT same
settings as the 9800 except with fast writes turned on ... the card
locked the screen in...

9700 pro problems with AGP 8x? by
@|?x
Morning all,
I recently got a 9700 pro which is an amazing card and a worthwhile upgrade
from my old R7000 Vivo, lol...
Anyways, over the weekend I did a clean install and made sure that I
installed the AGP bridge for my motherboard so that I could enable 8X AGP
mode in smartgart.
On previous...

A few questions about the 9800np by
a
Hi all.
I just got the Circuit City 9800np for $200.
It has a DVI - VGA converter.
Along with the standard VGA port, does this mean that I can use two monitors
simultaneously?
Thanks,

Every Upgraders Quandary Now or Not? by

I currently have a Socket A Barton 3000+ with 1gig of 333DDR RAM and a
9800Pro, I'm looking to upgrade the card to at least an X800 XT. The
question is do I do it now and buy the AGP version or wait until I'm ready
to upgrade the whole lot with a new motherboard and go for the PCI Express
version....

Am I Wasting my Money Buying a TFT? by

I'm currently using a 9800Pro and a 19" CRT. I usually run games at
1600*1200. I'm tempted to buy a 19" TFT, but this has a native resolution of
1280x1024. The question is, will i be under utilising my video card if i buy
the TFT?
Will i be able to run the TFT higher than 1280x1024, with anti...
