Can electricity be used for time travel/signals ? by
Skybuck Flying[_4_]
Hello,
This morning the kitchen light seemed to fail shortly, eventually it did
come on after me flipping the switch.
Then the day went on, keeping that part private.
I told my mom, today something terribly is going to happen, if it happens to
me tell the people on the internet that I suspect...

[email protected]
I was given a HP Deskpro from a neighbour, saying it was kaput, and he
was going to dump it. I ran memtest, no problems. Then disk diagnostic
and find reallocated sector count is huge, so disk is going to die.
And it is a WD Blue. This was aimed at business market - it has Haswell
i7 and yet...

How to view old Wordpad documents? by
mur
I've always used Wordpad for some things like adding pictures and different
texts etc because I had confidence they would always be viewable in computers
that run Windows. Years ago I would have thought the idea of creating newer
versions of Windows that won't open all Wordpad files was so stupid...

CPU maxed out in BIOS setup, fire and damnation awaits ye by
[email protected]
I received a PC i5-2400 on Asus P8P67 mainboard. In the UEFI gooey BIOS,
I noticed the CPU fan hits top speed and temperature keeps rising, rising
to 80 Celcius if you sit and watch long enough, whereupon I chicken out
and switched it off.
Now the CPU is going at maximum frequency, and also the...

Using Storage Spaces with win 10 by
Charlie Hoffpauir
When I set up Storage Spaces in my Win 10 system for data, I chose
two-way mirror, using 2 physical drives, because I wanted "resiliency"
(I wanted data redundancy in case of a drive failure). That seems to
work fine. But now that I've learned a bit more about storage spaces,
I'm wondering if maybe...

(Ubee) Cable modem acting strange all of a sudden. (Reset fixed it). by
Skybuck Flying[_4_]
Today I noticed something strange (couple of minutes ago), 3 march 2016 at
14:50.
I was about to start computering/internetting.
Googling (and facebooking and linked-in something I rarely do).
I noticed the connection was very slow. Websites would load very slow or not
at all.

Computer doesn't boot by
Seymore4Head
I was asked to look at a computer. When you turn it on, only a single
dash for a cursor displays.
I guess the next step is to open the case and unplug everything. Is
there something else I can try before I open the case?

Using an old dual CPU server as a gaming PC? by

This is just fascinating me. Apparently only for people who can build
stuff. That's what I was looking for. Otherwise, everybody would be
doing it.

There he is self-critical about his system, but if you zoom in and look
at the specs, you will notice it's...

Connecting a fancy video card via a long ribbon extender (not from bitcoin
people). I'm not 100% sure what it's about, but it's worth noting IMO.
