Storewiz compressor? by
Andrew Instone-Cowie
Anyone have any experiences of the Storewiz STN-5000? It's supposed to
be some sort of on the fly compressor that sits in front of a NAS filer.

I've looked in the archives but couldn't find much!
Thanks
Andrew

qlogic failover driver by
[email protected]
I have a Windows Server 2003 with 2 Qlogic QLA2340 FC HBAs and I'm
trying to configure these for failover. I'm using the latest drivers
for the cards, and the SANsurfer FC HBA manager to configure them. The
SAN is accessible, but it seems only one of the cards reaches the SAN.

My small company has inherited a brand new Clariion FC4700. I know
this unit is several years old but will serve our needs well. I have
everything to use this unit in a new Windows 2003 Server SAN including

DLT600 by
Tarjei T. Jensen
Do any of you know when the DLT600 is supposed to be available? I found
nothing on the Quantum site about it.
The specification looks good: 36MB/s and 300GB native on each tape.

StorageTek L180 and L700 DC Power Problems by
CHANGE USERNAME TO westes
We buy a fair number of used L180 and L700 tape libraries, and we have
noticed a fairly large number of these systems have one of the two DC power
supplies dead. Opening these always shows a burn at exactly the same
transistor on the PCB. Recently we had a unit under test where the DC
power...

Best backup strategy when there is lots of re-structuring on HDD? by
Peter Frank
Hi,
I know there is backup software that allows incremental and
differential backups so that it isn't always necessary to backup
everything even if only some data were added or changed.
The problem is that in my case there is also a lot of re-structuring
going on with my data, i.e. data move from...

Very poor performance of Serial ATA (Dell/EMC) by
Rick Denoire
Hello
I am using a storage system from Dell/EMC CX-400 with two DAEs (two
cases to fill in harddisks). One case is full with FC Seagate 15K 36GB
harddisks. I have never been enthusiastic about its performance but at
least it seems that you can operate an Oracle DB on these disks.
The secound case...

Switching storage vendors by
alan
I'm looking to speak with someone who has been through a major change
of their primary storage vendor. How did you do it? How did you move
your data? Why did you do it? Was it worth the hassle?
Thanks,
Alan

Oracle on NetApp by
Faeandar
Anyone surfing this group doing this? If so what do you think about
it? I know of several companies that do and have had extensive
conversation with one of the admins doing this.
I think it's a good idea if you can build in the availability
initially. OnTap software has huge advantages for...

Hello,
What do people have in mind when they talk about:
DOC (Disk On Chip)
DOM (Disk On Module)
SSD (Solid State Drive)
Are they different technologies?

AIX vs Solaris by
racman
I need to give a presentation on the benefits of AIX vs Solaris.
Can everyone share your thoughts. Keep in mind that I`m not looking
to dismiss either platform, I think they both work very well with
specific databases,
storage and apps. Thoughts please!
Thanks

Some screenshots from Ranish partition manager:
http://members.lycos.co.uk/muhaha1981/
I have manually converted the only primary partition on second disk to
extended partition.
Can anyone suggest why this partition works with FreeDOS and Windows XP, but
errors out from DIR command in MS-DOS...
